The New Album Info Thread
Re: The New Album Info Thread
The Release to Fundy gap was very long but fortunately we had Disco 3 plus PipArt plus Potemkin to act as stop gaps. This time we have had the Further listenings and the Agenda EP. We may even have the Musik demos too. Still can't believe they're going for January...
Re: The New Album Info Thread
I think they want to drop it when there's less market competition. The last time they dropped an album in the autumn or close to was Elysium, and that didn't turn out too well. Sure, the hardcore fanbase will buy it anytime, but there's always a certain number of people to interest who are only marginally attached to an act. For an older act like PSB physical sales and downloads are still significant. Springsteen just got to #2 US with sales of 85,000 in the first week and almost none of those were streams. The last two PSB releases dropped in April and July respectively when there wasn't a lot of competition in the marketplace, thus more press attention. Sadly, I don't think it's commercially viable in the current marketplace for PSB to drop an album in the last four or five months of the year.
Re: The New Album Info Thread
Musik won't be so successful as their albums. I think the problem is the quality of songs. Maybe PSB want to add better songs, We all remember Pazzo!. What was that? Who will pay for that? Maybe Price production is not so impressive as they wanted. Maybe they will reproduce few tracks with Xenomania, with Horn.Bulldog wrote: ↑Mon 01 Jul 2019, 10:47 pmIf they arrived at an advanced mixing stage it means the album has a basic structure that's meant to last and enough material they're satisfied with. It's like the editing phase of a movie: you can shape material in different ways and embellish it if necessary, but you have to select from stuff you already shot or recorded, as at that stage it's very antieconomic to go back and redo entire sequences. I'm still convinced the delay depends simply on Musik.

I think you should all rejuvenate your brains a bit. Nothing wrong with a bit of Price. Also, the implication is that the mixes are final, so they're not gonna be adding any more songs. The album is pretty much complete and to be delivered.
Re: The New Album Info Thread
I think it's because they want to start the tour with the release of the new album. Now the promoters have time to organize everything. I expect an official announcement in October/November together with a pre-sale for the new tour in February/March/April 2020.

And a new Annually about the album in April
Re: The New Album Info Thread

PSB's are masters of neatly pulling together the whole product package. It makes so much sense to time and tie everything - album, tour, Annually - together.
No further mystery pettexts of polaroid pics from the 80'/90's though - what the heck was that all about?

I think those pics and 303 are an indication that older, maybe strictly analogue, gear will be used
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.

Re: The New Album Info Thread
About the delay, this is caused by the need to manufacture enough stock, particularly vinyl, and at the moment you have to finalise the master and literally get in a queue to have manufacturing done and distribution organised. A 6-month wait is not unusual, and planning manufacture to happen after the Autumn and Xmas rush is essential.
It is frustrating for the artists but does allow time to plan promotion, or frankly just to have some time off (the calm before the storm). Digital singles mean that it is likely they will choose to release something before the album is out.

I still think there’s a chance that we’ll have a new single in September to coincide with the Radio 2 show.
Woof.

No. The back of the TB-03 is quite different and features two MIDI ports, for example. See https://www.roland.com/us/products/tb-03/
