MONGREL
Very good songwriting. Clever, Weill-like chord changes in the bridge. Production quite poor, with obvious use of Logic-presets (the drums in particular) up front in the mix. Would have benefitted stylistically by some guitars.

SOUP
Catchy. Great drum programming. Muddily produced.

RUN GIRL RUN
By FAR the best produced song on the EP. They put more into it in 2001. If only the other tracks were up to this standard production-wise. A good song, that works both as a satire and a straightforward protest folk song.

ICH BIN MUSIC
The weakest song on the EP. Circular melody, and the horn riff is way to loud an synthetic.

FOR ALL OF US
Great song, of wich many versions exist. Why they didn't reuse the studio version from C2H is beyound me.

FOR EVERY MOMENT
Great pop song. The coda at the end (obviously designed for underpinning the applause at the shows) the clear highpoint. Could, given som more work, have worked as a PSB single.
For All Of Us..? You may respectfully be meaning Friendly Fire...

I would love to hear a version of 'For Every Moment' with Neil on vocals.

It will probably be paired with Launderette as a bonus disc with Annually, won't it? I will definitely get it.
As for highlights, I'm really f*** enjoying "Soup", it's a blast. And yes, "For every moment" is poignant, about facing death in a positive way. Would love to hear Neil's version. Actually, I'm enjoying the whole thing. The only huge minus is Frances being openly transphobic.

Nice review. "Cover me in calamine" is a great title!

Yeah, those reviews are giving me "critics who never listen to pop music - EVER". I wouldn't say the lyrics are horrible in any way. "Soup" is wink-wink of the best kind.

Looks like this time around the script is better than the songs.
