Pet Shop Boys and J Hus battling for UK Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart
Pet Shop Boys could claim their first UK Number 1 album for more than 26 years on this Friday’s Official Albums Chart.

On today’s Official Chart Update, which tracks the album sales and streams over the weekend, the legendary dance music duo have a lead of 3,000 chart sales with their new record Hotspot. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe’s fourteenth studio album has picked up the most physical sales and downloads so far this week.

Pet Shop Boys last hit Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart back in October 1993 with the fourth record Very. All 13 of the band’s previous studio albums have charted within the Top 10 in the UK. View Pet Shop Boys' Official UK Chart history in full.

In at Number 2 and chasing the group’s tail is London rapper J Hus. His second studio album Big Conspiracy dropped last Friday and is the most-streamed album of the week so far. The collection is on track to outperform the Number 6 peak of his debut Common Sense.

Pet Shop Boys have reached no. 1 in the official UK album charts.

And in other news the Pope converts to Islam while taking pig for flying lesson.

They're pretty impressive sales actually. I expected less than that. It wont hold on unfortunately but its encouraging how the album sales hold up 35 years on.

Dreamland is number 1 in El Salvador...of all places...
Where did you see that?

Number two now.
I see #113

I was there in early January and didn't hear it on the radio. But PSB were really popular there 1986 to mid-90s. Suburbia was a huge hit on the radio.

Thanks for posting! Well, it's pretty much over, the other Top 5 artists all "sold" over a thousand copies in a day (does this count streaming too?), and this J Hus person will be #1 next time.

Suburbia and Left To My Own Devices were top 100 yesterday while Dreamland was no. 1. The past is haunting El Salvador people in a good way :)

They're performing in the national tv awards on ITV tonight. That's gonna boost sales for sure what with all the dancers and Walliams enaging in monkey business.

^^^^^ Some of those dancers are going to have their very own #metoo moment with Walliams prowling around backstage.

It’s such a shame...they so deserve another number 1 album after all these years. But yet again the party has been spoilt by an album by someone you’ll never ever hear from again in a year’s time!

But still there is lots to celebrate!!

Electric went in at number 3
Super went in at number 3

So if this goes in top 3 also then that will still be an incredible achievement. They were the number 1 album on iTunes for 3 days, up there with Eminem and Billie Eilish!

So proud of the boys!!

True, but Super sold 1,300 more the first week.
