As my kids now sing.
Lol, that’s really awesome as my daughter was singing the same happy meatball, but this time living in a salsa.

COVID-19 UPDATE!

"Happy people" is more relevant as ever. At least the chorus is, and that's the only part people listen to. So why not release it as a single - accompanied by a video?

Would be pretty cool if they released an EP or something on Friday to coincide with the new UK lockdown: Happy People, West End girls (lockdown version) ...

Hotspot has a few tracks that seem oddly fitting given how 2020 has played out:

Happy people, living in a sad world

You’re hoping for a miracle, to get you out of here

I don’t wanna go out

Don’t be scared, for only the dark can show you the stars
Woof.

It's one of those examples of the perfect three (ish) minute pop song that they do so well.

"Did you see me coming?"
"Before"

etc.

I'd love them to release it as is and then give it to a few bands like maybe Hot Chip and say "When you get to the middle bit, just go with it, pretend you're in a club, and go crazy"

TWO HOUR EXTENDED REMIX!!! OK, maybe not quite that long. It's just that the middle part is SO dancey :-)

When I first heard this track I couldn’t believe that it wasn’t going to be a single! It’s an amazing track! It’s classic 90s psb.. It’s a real highlight on Hotspot for me..

I love the ‘peeeople..haaappyy people’ bit in the middle.. 8)

I love this song! My favourite from the new album.
I love the distorted synths at the start, the production in general I’m into. It’s that classic house piano sound but they’ve softened it ever so slightly which gives this light yet subtlety melancholic feel to the song, and the chorus is simple and love the euphoric echo in Neil’s vocals.
Also, nice to hear Neil rap.
I can also relate to the lyrics.

An extended mix or dub of this would be great.

(Side note: The Yes, etc dubs are one of my favourite things they’ve done.)

You're damn right. Remember sitting in a shit hole apartment with no windows back in 2009 right after getting the bonus disc and just marveling in the dub mixes. The whole day in a dark room listening to dub mixes. No drugs, just music. And I thought "this is the best they've ever done".
