British iconic electro-pop Duo, the Pet Shop Boys, top the Worldwide iTunes Album chart with their brand new album 'Hotspot'!👏👨‍🎤🥇💿🌎🎵👑👑
British iconic electro-pop Duo, the Pet Shop Boys, have debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart after topping iTunes in 20+ countries with their brand new album 'Hotspot' including the UK, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Peru, Singapore, Spain, Sweden.

'Hotspot' is Pet Shop Boys 14th studio album and was released on January 24 via x2 Records/Kobalt. It's the 3rd and final collab with producer Stuart Price, and features 10 tracks including a limited edition bonus disc of instrumental versions of all the tracks. The album was preceded by "Dreamland" ft. Years & Years, which was released on September 11, 2019, and "Burning the Heather", which was released alongside the album announcement on November 14. A lyric video of "Burning the heather", was also released the same day. See below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FihJNvzziXY The song features Bernard Butler on guitars, and was inspired from driving along the moors and seeing the burning of the heather in autumn. The album's 3rd single, "Monkey Business", will drop February 7!

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe came together to form the Pet Shop Boys in 1981! After nearly 4 decades they are still the most successful duo in UK music history according to the Guinness Book of Records with record sales of over 50 million including 22 Top 10 hits, 42 Top 30 singles and 4 x No. 1 Singles including "It's a Sin", "Always on My Mind", "Heart" and "West End Girls" which also topped the US Hot 100! With five US top 10 singles in the 1980s, they are part of the 2nd British Invasion! In 2016, Billboard magazine named Pet Shop Boys the No. 1 dance duo/group since the chart's inception in 1976. The Pet Shop Boys have won 3 Brit Awards including the legendary Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In 2017, the duo received NME's Godlike Genius Award!

The new PSB album, “Hotspot”, has today entered the UK albums chart at number 3, matching the chart entries of its predecessors in the trilogy of albums produced by Stuart Price. It is Pet Shop Boys’ seventeenth top ten album in the UK.
“Hotspot” is, however, number one in the independent albums, physical, CD, vinyl and cassette charts!

According to Wikipedia the highest position since Bilingual (#3).

Norway: a pretty lacklustre #39 😞
(Electric was #1)

On the plus side, their fortcoming Oslo show sold out all 6000 tickets in a just a couple of hours 😁👍

Czech Republic #76

(Somewhat odd, Super was #2, Electric #4, in general their LPs had placed well here.)
