PSB vinyl art

#1 Post by Synthrobot »

How cool are these. Also stuff for Depeche Mode and Duran Duran etc.

I think the Liberation one is my favourite.

The Heart one is a bit uninspired. It would have been better if it had an ECG going through the middle of it.

Well that's just increased the value of any intact 7 inch singles he's butchered.

They're a bit literal. The Liberation one at least has some connectivity to the cover.

Hate these vinyl art things, whether it's a clock, an ash tray or design like this, as they butcher up actual vinyls. This may not be an issue for the average Elvis record that floods the second hand market (or whatever 70s sampler or James Last record that is catching dust somewhere) but I do have a problem destroying vinyls such as Go West 7" singles which are not very common.

A sale is a sale.

They still have to buy the records.

People mistreat their records too, once you buy it, you can do whatever you want with it.

I have several hundred (maybe thousands) of records, that I will never play again, because
I have them on CD, or digital.

Maybe I will frame them or something else, but there's nothing wrong with doing something you
own, once you've bought it.

Thanks Guys

I really appreciate the comments re my vinyl art. You may wish to know I do only model genuine 7” vinyl records in my framed pieces and use when possible records that are not in the greatest of condition. :O) Apart from being a music fan I like to use old material in my art that would otherwise be relegated to the loft or the rubbish dump. I tend to leave good quality / mint copies for the true fan and collector.

I grew up listening to the Pet Shop Boys and take inspiration for my designs from many sources, whether personal, the boys themselves or relevant current cultural topics. That said I am always considering new pieces made from PSB 7” records so if any of this great community has any ideas I would love to hear from you.

Kenny :D

On that note, if you did an ECG Heart one, I'd be keen to see how it turned out.

(Not a potential customer / just a curious PSB fan)

All the best.

Go West is the best one.
Libération is beautiful, but I would have preferred a version with Neil on one side and Chris on the other.
There are no connecting rotation lines, only two point to match: top head and neck/throat
Expressing passion, explaining pain
This is my kind of music
