Great tracks! Thanks Neil & Chris!
And everything about tonight feels right and so young

Great remixes. Particularly like Synthpop mix.
Its nice to hear a variation on a PSB remix as i sometimes feel their mixes are a bit samey.

But psb-freak could be the terrible exception that confirms the rule!

Now I see why Chris was a Lampshade in the Photo with psb-freak.. taken from the Telegraph article.

I didn't meet Chris Lowe because he was 'off being a lightbulb' in New York.
This turned out to mean going through some computer scanning wizardry whereby his head could be depicted as a lightbulb.
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

From popjustice:

The Pet Shop Boys mix, unreleased by MGMT's label for reasons too painfully obscure to go into here, probably comes a close second. It's got robot voices and Neil's voice and all the usual stuff you'd hope for (except crowd noise and rave horns).

I also agree that Nightlife - hitting the nadir with Footsteps - is their weakest album, although I'm looking forward to the Further listening in order to sit down and give it another chance.

For some reason when i play the abstrakt mix clip on the website and also when it downloads it into temp files, it chops itself off at around 1:53. No idea why.

Would any sweet person like to email the mp3 to me?

It would be interesting to know why the remixes were rejected. They're both excellant, especially the synthpop mix. So who ended up with the "official" remixes does anyone know?

Interesting to read that Nightlife is taking a bit of kicking these days. It was the first album released in the online community era and there was such a buzz about it being a return to form after Bilingual, as I recall. I would still rate it above Release and on a par with Bilingual. Not their finest album by any means but still some classic moments. Why Closer to Heaven wasn't a single I'll never know!
But it feels like the flight
Of the von Trapps, does that mean it's war?

1. Kids
2. Kids (Soulwax Remix)
3. Of Moons Birds & Monsters (Holy Ghost Remix)

dunno who did the remixes... :?:

This is the unofficial video I mentioned.

Maybe the Boys called it Abstrakt mix with a 'k' as they were working with Kompakt at the time!
