Winner; Because its a sell-out.

Though, in a way, the same could be said for New York city boy, as it was a shameless attempt at replicating Go West.

nickname wrote:"Winner" is not embarrassing, these lyrics of these songs are:

"I feel like taking all my clothes off, dancing to the Rite of Spring" (I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing)

"(Ooh ah ah ooh ah ah ooh ah ooh) [Hello] (Ooh ah ah ooh ah ah ooh ah ooh) (Ooh ah ah ooh ah ah ooh ah ooh) (Ooh ah ah ooh ah ah ooh ah ooh)" (Shameless)

"I want a dog, A chihuahua" (I Want a Dog)

"The boy who couldn't keep his clothes on / loved dancing all night long" (The boy who couldn't keep his clothes on)
I disagree with the lyric in bold. That line (or two lines) set up the narrative rather well I think - and I love Neil's delivery of them. I agree with I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing and TBWCKHCO though.

Was that the Frankie Howerd remix?

I hate New York city boy. With a passion. This has been a great help to me in these troubled times.

the lyrics to winner are PERFECTLY functional. theres nothing cringing about them anymore than mariah careys "hero" if neil can be accused of anything lyrically on "winner"... its that he went to a well out of necessity that was well used by so many who have written songs like this.

theres only so many ways to lyrically capture this type of song.

It does compare with "Hero" or "One Moment in Time", or any other of those "anthem" type of songs. It all boils down to whether you like those type of songs or not. There seems to be a large group of people (not necessarily a majority) here that don't. As a stand alone song I would say it is "Infectious yet annoying". As a companion piece to a montage of people achieving something, it definitely works. However, I'm not sure if Neil has the voice to carry this type of song off. I know I find myself laughing at time at how over the top it is.

Not a fair poll without a "neither" option .

I like both.
