Probably because of the German concerts.AlfonsoPSB wrote:And about the 1st comment, if EMI wants Potemkin to be released as a "minor side project", why are they making an effort to keep the original release date?

Now on Popjustice:

Tennant & Lowe??The promo is under Pet Shop Boys. The actual release when it hits the shops on 5 September is (having now found out) called 'Tennant & Lowe: The Battleship Potemkin'.
I guess because they didn't want to promote this as a Pet Shop Boys release and more a side-project.

Releasing it as Tennant & Lowe could be an idea, but why only now? Battleship Potemkin was always promoted as a Pet Shop Boys release, also on last year's leaflets and posters.
I guess a single could be cancelled, but I don't see why EMI would release this album as "Tennant & Lowe". The name "Pet Shop Boys" helps selling records...

Neil Tenant: Battleship Potemkim would piss Neil off no end as well!!!!bookshopboy wrote:http://popjustice2.proboards48.com/inde ... 1122023581
The new pet shop boys single "NO TIME FOR TEARS" has now been withdrawn from the sale schedule due to record company wanting the POTEMKIM soundtrack album to be released as a
"minor side project".
roll on the new album i sayeh? What's all this about? Also the original promo got withdrawn because for some bizarre reason management didn't want it to come under 'Pet Shop Boys' so it's been changed to 'Neil Tenant: Battleship Potemkim' which surely must piss Chris off.

I don't think there'll be a BP single. It would struggle to reach the top 20, confuse non-PSB fans, and dilute any remaining "excitement" of a comeback single next year. The BP soundtrack is available for fans, in much the same way as the Results re-issue or the Performance DVD, which slip under the radar of non-fans.
No bad thing, I think.

The Boys probably have an an agreement with EMI for x albums for y pounds. If this album would be part of that 'Pet Shop Boys' deal, it wouldn't be profitable for EMI to release...
Since this would probably be a release for a specific audience (PSB Fans and BP lovers) its not unlikely it will be released under a different name

The boys don't have such an agreement with Parlophone. They are currently on a licensed distribution per album deal.Kermit wrote:The Boys probably have an an agreement with EMI for x albums for y pounds. Re: Potemkim release date rescheduled
Hey, I just realized something. How are we American Petheads supposed to aggravate Zeus with Official information like this. ? A noble tradition of speculating about whether we'll get a domestic release is dashed before it can even begin.AlfonsoPSB wrote: There is no USA release date at the moment.
Is there no regard for custom anymore ?
Bah .. Humbug !
Well, Official Site, I'll show you:
Does anyone suppose there'll be a US release of the 2006 album ?
I like it here ~~ wherever it is ...
