What other Bands would you like to do the Score to Potemkim?

After hearing the Promo soundtrack which is Fantastic, and I feel Really Showcases how talented the Pet Shop Boys are.

Was'nt it Neil & Chris who said that a Modern Score for this film should be done every 10 years or so?

So which other Band or Group would you think might be good for doing the score for Potemkim in the future?

I was thinking Pink Floyd.

Or maybe Tony Banks (Classicly trained keyboardist of Genesis, who recently released a Suite for Symphony).

If PSB are "modern" and have done the 2004 version, then surely Pink Floyd/Genesis are ancient and have no chance in doing a 2014 version.

I think that Rachel Stevens should do it in 10 years time......

The Icelandic band Múm scored the movie back in 2001.

I dunno how many other bands could pull it off like this. The PSB have always had a rather "classical" sound to my ears (and by that I mean "classical music" in the generic sense)... and this soundtrack is more evidence of their classical talents. Sure, the orchestral parts were orchestrated by someone else, but they wrote most of the melodies and harmonies. Take for example the first track "Comrades". It ain't pop music, nor rock. It's pure classical... baroque-sounding actually, even with the synth lines that enter a minute or two into the track. To my ears, the opening of "Comrades" sounds rather like Handel... and I don't mean a cheap modern imitation of Handel either.

MacFly could also be strong contenders. But now that Lee Ryan has launched his solo career, it's going to be a tough call.

I still like the idea of Rachel Stevens...

Her version could open with "Some girls", then during the Odessa Steps sequence she could do "Sweet Dreams My LA Ex" and then she could end it with "Go good".

I don't think Rachel would agree to do it. In 10 years time, she's going to be well into her credibility and artistic peak comeback, in the style of Confide In Me and having her Greatest Hits collection packed with an ancient Russian film would be a terrible commercial move, especially for her American audience - she'll have broken America by then.

In 10 years time, she will already have worked with PSB, so would be in an ideal position to do a new version of their soundtrack...
