if the almighty remixes of Positive Role Model had been released as a single i think it would have helped the soundtrack. im not sure i agree that it was a flop show. i'd be curious to know how well it sold thru its run. i was there for previews and just after the opening. friends of mine went in August. the shows we attended were sold out.
There were days it was packed and many others with plenty seats to spare.
Surely it wasn't PSB's fault - or Jonathan Harvey's for that matter - but the promoters only started advertising the Musical to any extent when it was almost over.
By any stretch, you'll agree that a West End musical that only lasts a few months is a flop. At least here in London. Putting these shows on is isn't cheap and there's a lot of people on the feeder chain in a production like C2H.

Yes. It ended in mid-October 2001, as I recall.
I think 9/11 was the primary reason CTH shut down, wasn't it (tourism slump and all that)? If I remember rightly, the show was originally planned to run until March 2002.

Originally the musical was due to run until September, then it was extended. Frances Barber was only contracted for the initial run, so when it was extended they got that different actress in who was a bit rubbish and when I saw her she forgot the words to "My Night"......

That's a pretty shady explanation. It just never caught on. At the time PSB vented at the gay community for not supporting it.
Sept 11 wasn't mentioned at the time.
About "No Time for Tears"-
I would LOVE a stomping remix- an electronic one- that features that rousing wonderful too brief part- at 3:15- that is the signature of the song.
It's the climax of the song yet it's over too quick , cut to more soundtracky showoff stuff- "hey we've got the Sinfonika here!"
That crescendo of the song is wonderful, over too quick. The song is in ten diff segments, but that's the HOOK that matters.
