Battleship Potemkin UK PROMOS

#1 Post by One of the crowd »

Just seen a listing on ebay [Link Below]

However, this seems to be a UK Promo Copy (note the Tennant/Lowe sleeve) and cat no : POTEMKIN02

Question: What is POTEMKIN01??

The promo I have has the text "Battleship Potemkin" on the top instead of "Tennant/Love" and underneath the text "original music by Pet Shop Boys for the film by Sergei Eisenstein". Yet my copy is definitely a promo because it has the release date printed on the back of the cd booklet.

This actually looks like the official release and not the promo. At least Amazon Uk has the same cover on their site.

The reverse cover has Promo Only written, just like the other Promo CD, and there is no bar code.

I have the same as you.

I think this is a later, or rather newer, version of the promo.

Can I just say that if I'd heard this album I would probably be pleasantly suprised by it. I was at the Trafalgar Square thing and thought it sounded alright then, although I was slightly distracted by the screen thingy that was on.

But yes, if I'd heard the studio version I'd would probably be very happy with it's (possible) atmospheric cinematic lushness and probably looking forward to the new album proper with baited breath right now.

Of course I haven't heard it yet and think that illegal downloads are nasty and immoral and will bring down the music industry if people aren't careful. It's tantamount to piracy.

I will be buying the album though. I just hope it's not rubbish.

Can I say that? If there's anything wrong with what I've just said you could always lock this degenerate thread.

You could always get hold of a promo copy, and not illegally download it ;)

Really? Where from? I'm on a tight budget since they took White Star off the special offers list in CostCutters so I can't afford to pay much but I'd like to hear this excellent soundtrack.

I believe Costcutters may be attempting to go upmarket (ish) - according to the Horseshoe Common drinking club white spirit with blackcurrant is an excellent enjoyable aperitif leading to much hilarity, abusing of passers by and possibly blindness. Cheers
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

I have just noticed ALL of the PROMO CDs on auction (eBay) have been removed. Is PSB management watch-dogging them?

EMI are watching, although you can get a copy for £25 from www.vinylexchange.co.uk

This seller is smart not putting the actual title, which is good when using "search" on eBay. Can't find it, can't remove it

Darn good idea it is!

Chang
