where can i buy a copy of the promo from? i desperately need to hear the soundtrack again!

So, is there a complete version of that track anywhere, so you can play it with the film DVD?

The film is 75 minutes long ( or was it 73?) So Men and Maggots should be longer on the DVD than on the cd.

Well, the point is: There is no DVD of the film including the PSB-soundtrack yet - and as the originally planned DVD-release (as a Special Edition with the CD) was cancelled, it's at least doubtful if there will be one in the future. Seems that there's some problem with the rights to the movie.

So, as long as there isn't a PSB-Potemkin-DVD the only way to recreate the live performance would have been by playing the CD and watching the muted Standard-DVD of the movie simultanously. But unfortunately "Men and maggots" has been shortened, so the music doesn't fit the film anymore.

There's different theories, why they did edit the track. Some think to prevent making your own bootleg PSB-Potemkin-DVD. Some think due to an artistical choice, because the shorter version is better to listen to. I personally think, the latter theory might be true. The CD-version has probably been edited, when the DVD-Release was still planned - so the shortening of the track on the CD wouldn't have done much harm. When the DVD was cancelled it might have been to late to include the original track on the CD. So now there we are, without being able to enjoy film and music together as it was meant to be.

Or maybe, they just want to tease us until the DVD gets a release some time later. If it ever does...

Or maybe, there's a way to get the uncut version of "Men and maggots" somewhere else. That's what I was asking!

By the way: Did anyone notice if any other tracks on the CD were altered from their live versions?

In the interview with Elaine Paige, linked to from the official site, Neil says that the CD is about 10 minutes shorter than the soundtrack to the film itself.

When I played the live recording and a VHS copy of the film simultaneously, I had no problem matching them up exactly. But when I played the studio recording with the same VHS copy, I couldn't get them to synch up correctly, at least not in certain sections. Now I understand why.

With the help of the live recording, you can re-create the full lenght version of the soundtrack to enjoy it with the film...you just need an audio edit program and a lot of patience. I did this job short time ago with complete success

. The biggest differences, of course, were on 'Men and Maggots' (the live recording includes some 'solo' synth parts without the drum elements...and many repetitions and re-ordered segments...I replaced the "solo" parts with the same chords but with the drums on...not exactly the same effect but you can go near...) but there are some minor edits all over the score...you need to do at least 30 cut-n-paste edits to make it fit the film correctly...
but it´s possible!!

Most of the edits are on Men An Maggots, but a few chords need to be repeted in other places...I don´t remember all this changes exactly (I did this job around a month ago, in a long editing night) 'cause they are really minor changes...if I´m not wrong, a verse must be repeated on 'Drama in The Harbour' and 'Night Falls'..an the pause at the end of 'Our Daily Bread' must be sligthly shorther, as some examples...
