OK, you try. But I can assure you that they are certainly NOT 'totally different' as you claim. They're approximately the same chords. I have enough chords knowledge to state that.
The verse of I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more is based around two cycles of Fm / Cm7 / Db maj 7 / Cm. Some of the smaller keyboard parts have a D natural during the C minor bits making it C minor 9th technically but that's not horribly significant.
The chords for the chorus are pretty much identical. It's got the Fm/Ab/Bb bridge but that's it. The only difference is that there are more complex extensions on some of the verse chords, so there are a couple of 9ths and 11ths shoved into some of the F minors. But yeh. It's more or less exactly the same thing. Even the thing with the D naturals.
(Yes, it's D flat rather than C sharp, but that's just a syntax thing.)
It isn't easy for me to choose the PSB best album. I like their music so much, that I can't pick just one album as their best. But I can pick up the best albums... and surely RELEASE is one of them.

My least liked of all (although I like it a lot) may be NIGHTLIFE
I think RELEASE has exceptional tracks like LONDON, E-MAIL, SAMURAI and I GET ALONG.
LOVE IS A CATASTROPHE and YOU CHOOSE have exceptional lyrics.
I wouldn't hesistate to put THE NIGHT I FELL IN LOVE as one of the 2nd best PSB tracks of all time, and BETWEEN TWO ISLANDS as the best song the boys ever wrote in their carrear. It had to be on the album.
I don't see any connection between NIGHTLIFE and VERY. The first one is late 90s dance music, while VERY is (for me) their last HI-NRG album.
But I see a connection between RELEASE and BEHAVIOUR. Both albums are calmer and ballad oriented (as opposed to a disco or a house album). The slow numbers like LONDON & E-MAIL are close in feel to ONLY THE WIND & TO FACE THE TRUTH while HOME AND DRY is a more uptempo album "opener" as BEING BORING is.
The fact that there is a guitar in RELEASE doesn't change the melancholic "feel" of PSB's music.
My nick refers to the kind of music I normally listen and love: 70's disco, and some 80's hi-nrg disco. I prefer 70's underground deep-disco which is long, instrumental and opposed to things like I WILL SURVIVE, STAYING ALIVE (Bee Gees) or MACHO MAN by Village People which are crap.
... This also means that I don't like ROCK music. But if all ROCK was like RELEASE, I would be a fan.
to me "release" is like dm's "exciter" has some good elements in it but overall isn't that great...i.e. i hardly ever play it. that said "samurai" and "always" made up entirely for the album i remember people reacting the same way with "bilingual" but i love it...it comes down to individual taste i suppose.
