I remember an interview with Neil Tennant. On it, he talks about soundtracks and affirm that he would like to make the soundtrack of a Disney movie.
Of course, it's not going to happen but would you like something like that?

Thinking of The Lion King and Elton John's soundtrack - yes, I'd love to see the Disney movie like that with the Pets' soundtrack on it.

When did Neil come up with that preposterous suggestion?
It was a cough that carried him off. It was a coffin they carried him off in.

When did Neil come up with that preposterous suggestion?
Back in the early years (late 80s).
Remember also some reading about failed music for Inner Space film (besides the James Bond one)

Um, they turned down the offer to write music for Innerspace because they didn't approve the rest of the acts that were going to be featured.
They were never actually asked to write music for James Bond, they just thought they were going to be.
And I don't remember any interview ever in which Neil has stated that he'd love for them to write the soundtrack of a Disney film.
Does cameos only.

I certainly can't remember that either - could somebody provide a more specific link?
It would seem particularly strange for them to express such a wish in the 80's - back when they still had certain principles and ideals

I think Neil was asked on the official site questions thing if they'd do a Disney film, if approached and Neil said they probably would.

I believed they were almost asked to do a song for Toy Story 2

Telling lies and being uninformed are different things.
I also cannot recall Neil saying he would wish for such a ghastly thing.

Yes, God forbid if they began selling records again!
