he also says that being a regio 0 DVD you need a multi region player, I thought region 0 means it can be played by any player

I saw that before aswell. The record shop then answered me that the DVD was withdrawn. So I 'm not sure if it will be released.

I asked the seller, if he could send me a pic, he replied that this "package" is still sealed and he can´t open it. I´m assuimg that there is no DVD.

what i don't get how on earth there's still a copyright on a movie from the 20s! copyrights expire after 75 years. so how come this move has yet to go over to the public domain?

Neil said in a recent interview that a Russian company owns the rights to the film. There can be no DVD without their co-operation.

Copyright laws are different from country to country. Copyright *never* expires here, it's just passed along to legal heirs or people who buy the rights and that could well be the case in Russia.

The Battleship Potemkin was a silent film made in Leninist Russia in 1925, and tells the (somewhat idealized) story of a revolt among sailors of the Czar's Black Sea fleet.
