It is 20 years today (28 October) since West End Girls was released on Parlophone in the UK.

I had been hoping EMI might use this as an excuse to finally release it as a CD single, but no.

Yep, 20 years indeed. Doesn't time fly?!

One thing that has always got me thinking - what do you call PSB's debut release?

West End girls under Epic?
Opportunities under Parlophone?
West End girls under Parlophone?

Hard to say. I "wasn't there" non of the releases. I only remember when suburbia was on the radio (me 13) so i think the West End girls 1st release will be it!

I think PSB's debut is West End Girls, the big hit. I bet 99% of people don't even know about the previous West End girls and Opportunities.

I still have my 1985 black vinyl single. Released on Parlophone and 45 r.p.m. The 'B' side.....A man could get arrested. Ah....memories.

For me it's the 21th anniversary of West End girls.

The single was released by Channel Records in Belgium and Neil & Chris played 5 july 1984 in the Casino of Ostend in Belgium. It was the first appearance they gave only with West End girls.

Neil & Chris played 14 and 15 september 1984 again in Belgium with the songs West End girls, Opportunities and One More Chance.

I like the original Bobby Orlando version of West End girls more than the second version.

I had already heard the Stephen Hague West End Girls in the Rio De Janeiro radios a few times (around 1986).

Just when I was getting used to it, I heard in the motel I was, after having a wonderful afternoon... I vividly remember the moment it played: I was intrigued by that sad melody.

Today I wonder... Wasn't dance music supposed to be happy? But that one wasn't. It was beautiful but sad... and still 80's DISCO to brazilian standards.

Brazil never realeases singles... twelve inches least of all. But West End girls was released here. And believe it : that's a miracle. I immediattley bought it. I could never imagine then I would become a collector (which I did in 1990). I did not know what PET SHOP BOYS was, but I was specially taken by the b-side: A MAN COULD GET ARRESTED: more melancholic music to a disco beat.
