"I'm w/Stupid"/"Fundamental" Formats

As has been pointed out, to be chart eligible Fundamentalism will need to include at least 80% of tracks remixed from disc one.

As we know, Fundamental is full of canned singles:

1) Numb - originally intended as a single from PopArt

2) The Sodom And Gommorah Show - PSB's initial choice for a single as they were making the album

3) Minimal

It's not ridiculous to assume that Trevor and PSB would have produced longer versions of at least some of these tracks for single release, as seems to be Trevor's trademark. And we know that at least Minimal had at least one remix commissioned - by Tiga.

A logical guess would therefore see Fundamentalism being made up of:

The Sodom And Gommorah Show (Extended Version)
Numb (Extended Version)
Minimal (Extended Version)
Minimal (Tiga Remix)
I'm With Stupid (Remix taken from the DVD single; available on CD for the first time here)
I'm With Stupid (as above)

A leap of faith... and I'd suggest the remainder will be something like:

Integral (Extended Version) - in my opinion, this track is being primed as the second single. It's already being 'talked up' and is making its own headlines. The few reviews seem to place it at the top of the pile.

It's A Sin (New Version - potentially produced with Richard X) - an eight track disc would allow one non-Fundamental track to be included. I can definitely see a new version of It's A Sin fitting in well, and selling some extra copies. They've already said Fundamental is 'from the makers of It's A Sin', and we know they've got a new version all worked out, as they've been playing it live.

That's my best guess anyway.

I still thinking they could make a new version of "Left to my own devices". Everyone remembers that song. But I don't believe they put on the cd something related to old stuff.

"The Sodom and Gomorrah Show" lasts more than 5 minutes. An extended version would be a song of more than 7 minutes, I suppose. To be honest, I don't believe "Numb" can have an extended version.

Nevertheless, I think "Integral" needs an extended version. I don't know why but less than four minutes is too short.

Dont Chart Rules state that bonus disc must be made up of at least 80% of tracks from the original disc.

So, if the 2nd CD has 10 tracks, 8 must come from the 1st CD etc

So what about the Kate Bush album?
That had 2 cd's, both of them with different tracks.

Oh, and the Foo Fighters album?

They are re-recording The sound of the atom splitting with updated lyrics - My family is mentioned instead of Bread. Neil still thinks he should have gone with My hero instead.

Numb has an extended version, 'Number', which should not be confused with the De La Soul mash-up 'Three is the magic number vs. Number'

And Integral will have a forty minute version replete with a Tony Blair speech insisting that an ID card scheme will stop Al-Qaeda in its' tracks so we can therefore invade Iran.

Incidentally should we care about chart regulations. A difficult one, would you prefer Fundamental to be:

1) high in the charts with both formats counting to chart position
2) A load of new different tracks on a different release (Fundamentalism) that gets its own chart position

I assume the chart rules have changed since Very/Relentless. But when that came out I remember in NME Very was number 1 and Very/Relentless was no.2...(or am I just dreaming this )

This means that the tracks on CD1 of the limited edition version must be exactly the same as the tracks on the standard issue single CD version.

If I´m undestanding it right, the 80% rule (just for a NON simultaneous release only!) means that the whole Limited package must include 80% of the tracks included on the standard edition, so, if the limited includes one CD with the same tracklisting as the standard, it already will have the 100%, and then, the extra CD is free to anything (new songs, demos, remixes, whatever).

For simultaneous releases all the tracks of the standard must be included on the limited. It´s not clear if the order or distribution of this tracks across the 2CDs must be the same (CD1=Standard CD) or if you can place them randomly all over the 2CDs, mixed with the extra material, but I don´t think that would be the case...

On both cases, the extra stuff must be previously unreleased (!!!! )

Like Dog pointed out, the 2-cd edition was the regular edition. The second disc wasn't a bonus disc. There was neither a limited edition 1-cd or 3-cd edition of the album. If there had been, the chart rules would have applied to them then.

does this mean that they could put released and unreleased songs on CD 2 because they never ever have released this combination of songs in it`s entirety before.

Is it possible that they might not be bothered about "Fundamentalism" counting towards the chart? Then they could do what they liked and sod the silly rules!
