Pet Shop Boys - nytt album FUNDAMENTAL släpps 24:e maj!

PET SHOP BOYS RELEASE "FUNDAMENTAL", ALREADY HAILED AS THEIR BEST EVER STUDIO ALBUM, ON PARLOPHONE ON MAY 24.

THE SINGLE "I'M WITH STUPID", INSPIRED BY THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TONY BLAIR AND GEORGE BUSH, IS RELEASED ON MAY 10.

THE SINGLE AND ALBUM HERALD A PERIOD OF INTENSE ACTIVITY, INCLUDING THE PUBLISHING OF "PET SHOP BOYS CATALOGUE", A LAVISH HISTORY OF PET SHOP BOYS' ENTIRE VISUAL OUTPUT, EDITED BY PHILIP HOARE AND CHRIS HEATH.

"Fundamental", the ninth studio album by Pet Shop Boys, is released on Parlophone Records on May 24. The album reunites Pet Shop Boys with legendary producer Trevor Horn, who first worked with them on the seminal "Left To My Own Devices" in 1988.

It was recorded in London starting in May 2005 and features 12 tracks - 11 new Tennant/Lowe compositions and one track, "Numb", written by Diane Warren.

Neil Tennant says: "We think it's a great Pet Shop Boys album and also a great Trevor Horn record."
Trevor Horn adds: "I have always wanted to make a whole album with Pet Shop Boys. This album shows off their wonderful song-writing and is a record that I think only the three of us together could have made."
Advance copies of the album have seen it heralded as a masterpiece in a variety of publications.

NME said; "The electro godfathers diss ID cards and the war on terror over thunderous Trevor Horn production on their best album for over a decade"
Observer Music Monthly said.: "The forthcoming Pet Shop boys album is on the headphones and it's a cracker".

Q wrote: "Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe return to the magnificently OTT disco pop of their heyday."

The Sun said: "Their forthcoming album 'Fundamental' is brilliant."

Popjustice wrote that 'Fundamental' is "the first great pop album of 2006. There are about a million reasons why...it will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you want to have a little dance..seriously, this is a properly good Pet Shop Boys album."

On May 10th the single "I'm With Stupid" is released. The song, inspired by the relationship between Tony Blair and George Bush, will have an accompanying video which will include appearances by David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

Neil Tennant says; "The single is a love song about how the rest of the world can't understand why you're going out with someone. It's also a satire about the relationship between Blair and Bush from Blair's point of view."

The single includes the lines:

"No one understands me
Where I'm coming from
Why would I be with someone
who's obviously so dumb?

The next verse continues:

"Before we ever met
I thought like everybody did
You were just a moron
A billion-dollar kid
You flew up all the way
Like a hawk chasing a dove
I never thought that I would be
A sacrifice in love"

In the autumn, the distinguished art book publishersThames and Hudson will publish "Pet Shop Boys Catalogue", a complete visual and design history of the duo. The book is edited by authors Philip Hoare and Chris Heath.

Pet Shop Boys recently remixed Madonna's number one single 'Sorry' with Neil Tennant adding vocals to the track and she paid tribute to their influence onstage at the Brits this year. Stuart Price, producer of Madonna's current album said in a recent interview: "She really loves Pet Shop Boys. Because they worked with Bobby Orlando in New York really early on, and I'm guessing she would have been around there at that same period. So I think there's a huge kind of cross-over there. It's funny because when we were doing 'Jump', I didn't think she'd know who the Pet Shop boys were but she was the one who was screaming 'Pet Shop Boys! I f*** love them!'

I have been looking on the official site and I have found the information. It was an old new of 2005. I didn't remember it (neither did most of fans, I suppose).

Catalogue - 7 July '05
Pet Shop Boys have been approached by the British art book publishers, Thames & Hudson, to produce an illustrated book compiling their entire visual and design output over the last 20 years.

The book, to be entitled "Pet Shop Boys Catalogue", is being edited by Philip Hoare and Chris Heath and is expected to be published in autumn 2006.

So, there is not something new this time. Maybe, the opinion of Trevor Horn about the new album (Which was omitted on the official site in its report about "Fundamental").

Trevor Horn adds: "I have always wanted to make a whole album with Pet Shop Boys. This album shows off their wonderful song-writing and is a record that I think only the three of us together could have made."

This looks like it is the standard EMI promotional blurb, as it is practically the same as was posted on the EMI Australia website.
