got to be an April Fools joke, N+C are on the cover, I can't belive my eyes.
Yo, Mr. Dopeman, you think your slick;
Ya sold crack to my sister, and now she's sick.
But if she happens to die, because of your drug;
Im puttin' in your culo, a .38 slug!

i hope it's not a slipcase. Black shows the slightest fingerprints.

It's not an April fools joke....unless they didn't let me in on the secret. It's the real deal...EMI will release it on Monday for all the journalist and writers..etc...so they wanted to go ahead and drop it on the site now.

Happy April Fools day though...

Their best cover in my opinion.

I like the dark and black cover and neon lights.
It reflects the album Fundamental (fundamental is the music on it, the sleeve therefore cannot be a eye catcher) and numbers on it like Minimal.
So, it shouldn't be a eyecather, it had to be simple, minimal and fundamental.
Dark and black are superb.

True :lol:

I was expecting only a FUNDAMENTAL PET SHOP BOYS simillar to the "somewhere" neon sign.
Well,nightlife still my favorite :wink:

And don´t you think that red would be better?

You should ask if they would do different colours for the cover
Image from the post above in the booklet along with other colour variations. Like they do with New order's 12 by 12 packaging.

What I want to see is a picture of all the titles in neon. (I heard there was one floating around)

That cover reminds me of 'Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' or
'Jack The Ripper', maybe because of the darkness
of that picture plus their hats, typical British ... like
a move scene. It's Neil who loox like Abberline with
that top-hat.

On the other hand - I am pretty sure that neither
The Ripper, nor Mr. Hyde haven't worn any pair of
sunglasses.

Yes, it's "Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde" meets Soft Cell.

Pet Shop Boys - Fundamental? or Pet Shop Boys - Thriller?. To be honest, I would like to see them in a horror video and seeing this cover even more.

DominoDancing wrote:I think it looks great altough I agree that the placement of Neil and Chris is a bit weird, it would seem more logical if they were further in the bottom right corner. But then again, I'm not a designer, so I can really only say that I like it, let's say 8/10. The I'm with stupid cover would get 9/10 by the way.
As Gareth astutely pointed out, the positioning of N&C creates a natural line of sight between them and the neon sign.

I DO like to analyse these things, and one of the messages from this cover is: it's not about us, it's about the music.

The neon font is perfect, too! I went to the Cinema last night and there was a Fatty Arbuckles with a neon 'OPEN' sign - exactly the same font.. it looks circus-y, and a bit sinister against the black background..

Perhaps we'll get four sleeves with the lettering in a different colour each time :wink:
