Depends if it's electro or not ...
Don't like that guitar sound of 'Release'.
5 ballads ... hear, hear! Seems I missed
something, then ...
I didn't know 'Fundamental' 's out now!

However, I 'll let you know after having
had a listen whether if it'll have satisfied
me or not ...

Of course it´s a matter of a personal taste, but i find liking of only up-tempo music extremely boring and poor...
Chris Heath: Why you're surfing?
Chris Lowe: Coz we can!
Neil Tennant: Exactly. :D
(Performance commentary during What have I done to deserve this??)

how's about electro + guitars??

It's not out, but I'm choosing to indulge myself by reading the reviews

That'd be OK by me ...

I know and I noticed what you meant...
I just don't read them, I prefer waiting
patiently and judging by myself.
I don't want to 'know' about the album
even before it is released and before I
have had the opportunity to listen to it
with my own ears.
I don't trust other person's opinions 2
much, you know ... (see BB, some like
it).

Birthday boy reminds me of It couldn't happen here. I think it's the best song on Release.

I love 'Birthday boy'. My fave Release song after 'Love is a catastrophe' and 'Home and dry'. VERY beautiful.

Neil addresses these lines to Pontius Pilatus - 'If you knew his name would you feel the same?'

Birthday Boy reminds me of "Close Cover" by Chris Winter.

It's about 6:25.

Other than that ... it's an extremely pretentious song on Release and, oddly enough, a prelude to Fundamental
I like it here ~~ wherever it is ...

I absolutely adiore those live versions of Birthday Boy. They´re so wonderful.
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

Is it really 6.23? I never noticed how long it was - I always wanted it to continue. BB is one of my favourite PSB songs. Incredibly sad on first listen, then you realise the points of reference & it almost moves you to tears. Three levels of meaning in those deceptively simple lyrics - brilliant. And hardly pretentious. The whole album is their least pretentious which is why so many pretentious fans didnt like it.
