I'm With Stupid - The Song
There's been so much on here about the video, but I can't see a thread about the actual song itself, which I think's more important. (Sorry if there has been one though)
Myself, I'm a bit disappointed. It's a decent enough song, but I don't think it has much of that special PSB sound to it that I love (although I've only listened to it on the tv so far). I think one of the more recent songs like Miracles had a much stronger PSB sound to it, and I was hoping they'd carry on more in that sort of direction. Maybe it'll grow on me more though, when I've heard it more times.

j'adore cette nouvelle chanson, très entêtante après plusieures écoutes ... ça annonce un album plus dansant et éléctro que release qui m'avait déçu ... vivement le 22 mai ...
Chris Heath: Why you're surfing?
Chris Lowe: Coz we can!
Neil Tennant: Exactly.

There are lots of threads on the song dated around the week of its radio release in Sweden (mid March).

It's a Trevor Horn production and bears all the hallmarks. It's very '80s. I think the PSB production 'sound' is something that has changed over time and became more pronounced in the 1990s when they, perhaps, took more control of that side with increased confidence gleaned over the preceeding years.

I've always thought How can you expect to be taken seriously? is completely underrated by the public eye. I just love it. It probably is my favourite PSB track ever.! wrote:I like it, but I don't like it as much as Luna Park!![]()
It's a good pop song, it reminds me of Heart and How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?...yeah, 'tis good IMO!

I quite like it now, but when I heard it for the first time I got a bit disappointed cos there's no strong melody in the chorus and the first chords of the song sounded a bit...erm...loud maybe
I was really sad that there's no proper chorus in it. But now I got used to it and really love it now. But I think 'Integral' is much more powerful song. And I have to say that 'Luna Park' and 'Integral' I like more.
Though I think it'll be very BIG all over the world and really a good choice for a first single. I hope so.

It sounds 80s in a way, but when I first heard it on tv, it came on straight after that program Beauty and the Geek, which uses Opportunities as it's theme tune, which obviously has a very strong 80s electro sound. Then hearing I'm With Stupid straight after that, I just noticed the hugh difference in sound that was alot less 80s electro sounding, and also not as strong a song overall, so I guess that disappointed me a bit. But I suppose it sounds more similar to Heart and Seriously as someone said, so maybe I was wrong to say it doesn't have a strong PSB sound, and I'm sure it'll grow on me more too!DJ Danny C wrote:Yes, it certainly does have a very retro sound, that struck me on first listen.Drico One wrote:It's a Trevor Horn production and bears all the hallmarks.
