Fundamental disappointing
Well, before all the fans have heard the whole album I start to see a lot of disappointing posts about Fundamental.
I have to say that I respect all the different points of view about this album. Although I am really surprised because I didn't expect these bad reactions in some fans.
I used to have bad feelings after hearing for the first time some previous PSB albums. But with this one I haven't had this feeling. And I think it happens because with this one, I don't miss any aspect from the PSB kind of music: anthemic songs, disco stompers, ballads, orchestral songs, etc. You can see all these aspects in this album.
When I heard Behaviour I though it was a good album but I missed the disco stompers and the Anthemic songs. When I heard Very I missed just the opposite. And even worse with Bilingual, Nightlife or Release. Please had a weak production.
So that's why for me, the best PSB albums are Introspective (all the songs, excpet "I want a dog", were singles), Actually (their hits of their imperial phase) and Fundamental (because it's another complete album).
Although, at the end it may not happen. I think this album has 5 songs wich can be easily top 10 (I'm with stupid, Minimal, Integral, Numb and The Sodom and Gomorrah show). With how many of the previous albums you can say that?: very?, behaviour?. To be honest, none of them have as many potential singles as Fundamental.
I know most of you are going to change your minds after a few weeks.

Forums are for that, to talk about anything. But I see what you mean. You want another thread about people insulting.Undertaker wrote:What you going on about now?
1) Is there any need to start up another thread?
2) Take EVERYONE'S opinions on what they have heard and i'd bet that the positives outnumber the negatives, ten fold.
You are talking out of your arse here.
Dave
Can someone back to the topic, with no stupid comments about it?

I'll get back to the topic, even though i never went off topic before.
Nickname ;- Visit the main 4 threads about I'm With Stupid, Luna Park, Integral and Minimal. Count the positives and the negatives. Then come back and look at this dopey thread.
I'm at work and have nothing to do, so i'll start you off. Out of dozens of people that have commented on Minimal, only ONE said they didn't like it.

This is hilarious. Nickname, you were just massacred for raving about Fundamental. There is a lot of bullying on this forum and it seems to be condoned.
I think you're right - when people are very close to any band, they are very, very sensitive to any sort of criticism. It's a given. Also, it's at the stage where these are such new songs to everyone's ears and most people haven't heard them... at least not more than 30 seconds worth. Although one can't make a definitive judgement on small samples, it still *does* offer a small insight (taster) into what the song will be like.
I liked the "Integral" full length and I liked the "Integral" sample. I was unmoved by the "Minimal" sample and am unmoved by the "Minimal" full length. The ballads will be tougher to judge on a small sample.

I am not going to argue again, there a lot of people who have heard "Integral" and they don't like it. Of course, there are more positive reviews that negative (this one is a positive forum) but this thread is specially for people who feel disappointed.Undertaker wrote:I'll get back to the topic, even though i never went off topic before.

Thats fundamental fever for you. Its like watching 50 people simultaneously break down before your very eyes and start a fight over who gets the last Pork Scratching. But then I think I've contracted Fundamental fever as well so you should probably ignore my ramblings as well.
On another note, Minimal is rather ace and the 30 second sample betrays the genius that lies within the song in its full glory. I've deleted Integral for my own good really, so hopefully it'll sound fresh again next month despite being played relentlessly over the past few days.
Only time will tell just where exactly Fundamental is placed in the PSB canon. I played Nightlife to death on initial release and nowadays its probably one of my least favourite PSB albums; I suspect Fundamental will fare much, much better. It doesn't have that blinding immaculate sheen that Nightlife had, which is a good thing.

I think PSB forums have been very critical over the years. People don't like to hear criticism if they happen to like it, but a lot of honest reviews are given. This thread thoug is bollocks. How can anyone be ''dissapointed'' with an album they haven't heard? How can fans be dissapointed in the songs when the vast majority love the new stuff?
At least on this forum though you don't get banned for posting sales figures of an album released in the 1980's

I tend to seek opinions and critiques that are the polar opposite of my own anyhow because its always more interesting to read than stuff that I already agree with anyway. The main problem with PSB really is they set the bar so ridiculously high in the early part of their career that you can lose a certain perspective on their newer material.
Still, 4 songs heard so far, all pretty damn good. I probably like 'I'm With Stupid' the least of the 4, but its definitely the right choice for the lead single.

I was actually referring to Nicknames thread title. I was asking him how he came to the conclusion that Fundametal was ''dissapointing'' to many, even thoughb@man wrote:The majority liked crazy frog but i must not like what the majority likes. Also if it is our all favourite band. Why does someone like release and someone not. It`s up to anyone else.Undertaker wrote: How can fans be dissapointed in the songs when the vast majority love the new stuff. Dave
1) The majority haven't heard it, even though some muppets were judging it by 30 second samples
2) With the 4 songs that have leaked, you can probably count on one hand the amount of dissapointed fans.
Finally, the majority didn't like Crazy Frog. Where did you draw that conclusion from? The majority hated the damn thing and still do.
