Copy Control and Fundamental

#1 Post by Danimal »

Hi all,
I've ordered a copy of Fundamental from Japan, whick is reportedly copy controlled. Of course, I want to make my own CD-R for personal use with the album, new Fundamentalism tracks, b-sides, etc. Questions are:
1. Are copy controlled CDs of lesser quality (corrupted correction data, etc.)
2. Can software like Exact Audio Copy easily crack the protection?
3. Has EMI been using the easily cracked "hold the "ctrl" key while loading the disc" protection?
4. Anything else pertinent to disc quality and extracting the files for personal use.

There hasn't been a cd released to date which has not been 'cracked'. For instance Coldplay's X&Y arrived on the net just before release day without any compromises to quality. If you own the record allready its legal to create a backup copy, at least in the Netherlands

copy protection is a waist of time and money and some labels got in big trouble for having spyware on their cd's. The fact is there is always a solution if it data and it can be converted into an audible signal then it can be done

Pink's Try This album was supposed to be copy controlled, that's what it said on the cover, but it played on my comp and I didn't have any problems ripping the music...
