As for it making a good single, no. Not because I don't like it but I just don't think it would be a good single, it sounds too dated (like Integral...).
I personally feel this song is more 'not in place' on Fundamental than 'Numb'.
As for a single; I believe this track is too dull for that. It's a good B-side but a bit boring for the album let alone a single. 'The resurrectionist' Would've been great on the album!
What is that old saying again?.....One man's pill is another man's poison? It doesn't matter what the song, there's always going to be someone who adores it or someone who loathes it. For me this song is why I love PSB so much. It bubbles along unpretentiously with a gorgeous little melody and clever lyrics, and it reminds me SO much of Miserablism, one of my all time favourites. Quite why this song is so maligned is beyond me, and I start to wonder if I live in some sort of parallel universe where everyone else is hearing something completely different to what I'm hearing. I don't know if it would make a good single or not, but I just adore it, I think it is one of the highlights on Fundamental. It is a soothing pill for me!

It could be a single but the problem is that PSB have just made a blinding album and this happens to be one of the weaker tracks. It's still good though which says a lot for "Fundamental".
