**New Order fan's review of Fundamental**

A friend of mine is a huge New Order / Joy Division fan and likes PSB too. Here is his short review of Fundamental - spot on i think!!

I've listened to it about 4 times now - and i like every track.

'Pyschological' reminds me a bit of 'The Model', but then i think it's supposed to.

'Soddom' is brilliant. I love the casio keyboard intro. It's also got that 'Was it worth it bit' i.e 'i don't know why....etc' at the end as a counter melody on the bridge.

'Excuses' is good - reminds me of behaviour, although not sure about the odd bit at the beginning.

'Minimal' is classic, i thought it would be the next single. I noticed the 'hooky' bit at the end as well.

'numb' not my favourite track - but i like it the more i've listened to it.

'Luna park' i like as well - not as immediate as the other tracks, but a grower.

'Stupid' is really funny - like the bassline

'Casanova' should be a single, but won't

'20th century' is alright, probably the weakest track, but reminds me of 'please.

'Indefinate' i love and is very 'behaviour'

'Integral' is great too - isn't it about ID cards or something - it's very camp though in a good way. The keyboard line reminds me of something though.

I'd have to agree and give it a 9 as well. The best album since 'Behaviour' - i would have said 'Very', but that's got 'One in a million' on it and that's pants!

Any news on live dates - wouldn't mind seeing them?

i was reading the review, nodding my head and thinking ' yup with you so far ' all the way to the end. but - how can anyone think that 'one in a million' is pants? it's a great psb stomper AND it's got neil going 'oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ' all over it.

ugh. one in a million... i remember my friend's dorm room in college, sitting around and drinking with a few friends. very would be a great soundtrack to the evening until one in a million began. someone would always yell "skip the track or something! what is this crap?" nonetheless, i still believe that my friend and i are responsible for several dozen sales of the album that would've never happened in southern texas otherwise.

one in a million is a great song that masquerades as throw-away pop; it's got the lot - a strong opening, great beats, excellent house piano, neils vocal, lyrical ubiquity, and a great beatles-esque bridge to take us to the final chorus!!! it's a stomper.

and thats before we even think of the live version as performed on discovery when they dropped some of 'mr vain' into the mix; genius!

Talking of New Order, anyone noticed the Blue Monday samples in one of the tracks on Fundamentalism (can't remember which one, but it's really obvious - and uncredited)!?
