What after 2006 with PSB?

#1 Post by wieske »

2006 will be a very busy PSB-year for us al with the Fundamental-release, the singles taken from the album, the summertour, worldtour, live-album at probably the end of the year, the Pet Shop Boys Catalogue that will see the daylight... BUT what will happen after 2006? Do we have to wait another 4 years (counting from Release) to see the release of another new proper PSB-studoalbum?

Oh, I've been overly pessimistic then.

In 2007 they will indeed tour Europe, but what will happen after the first part of 2007...? Ofcousre they will take some rest from such a hectic year, but what afterwards...?

In 2007, we get fan-only product like the CD of the Radio 2 concert and the DVD of Potemkin, and a 20-year anniversary DVD of It Couldn't Happen Here.

In 2008, we get reissues of Nightlife and Release with nice booklets and 'further listening' bonus CDs. Oh, and Disco 4 with all the aural off-cuts they can sell us.

In 2009, along comes another album, a sort of Behaviour 2 called Disconsolate (but note the first 5 letters of the title).

YOU'RE ALL MAD !

It's 2006, the new album has just been released, a day can last as long as a year if you work hard enough. I think you all just have an inbuilt 'misery' factor.

I here dover is nice this time of year, a nice view over those cliffs... JUMP !

...or CHEER UP & ENJOY NOW YOU FOOLS

What planet are you living on, eh? And what laws of physics exist there? ' A day can last as long as a year if you work hard enough'?!?!? Pffft! Now there's incentive.

'I've got this great new job, I've been working really, really hard at it.'

'Sounds good. What's wrong then?'

'It's just that the the harder I work, the longer the day is and I seem to have been at it for about a year now. I spoke to my boss about it and he assures me it's still the same day.'

'Can't you speak to the union?'

'No. they won't see me until tomorrow...'

Farking tool.

I predict a new studio album as soon as autumn 2008.

Between Bilingual and Nightlife they worked extensively on "Closer To Heaven".

Between Nightlife and Release they again worked on "Closer To Heaven".

Between Release and Fundamental they worked on Battleship Potemkin and PopArt.

So unless they find some new arthouse project to do, they should be able to put out another record in two years time or so.

Also, they seem rather inspired at the moment, so why not capitalize on that?
