I mean what would the selling point be about their lead single?wont you join us and laugh with a english group about your stupid president? I mean,even if thats true, its still a difficult first single to push here.

Numb is a better single for this side of the pond, IMO. or TSAGS.

In New York the import was widely available a month before the domestic release. I don't know if that was the case in the rest of the country but that probably took away from the initial sales. And there is no single or any kind of promotion so not too surprising if they didn't make the top 100. They should release Minimal as a single. All the remixes are already done and Rhino won't spend any money on promotion so it couldn't cost them much to do it.

I held off and got Fundamentalism through amazon on pre-order, though in NYC I saw you could get the import for a few dollars more than the retail price of the US release.

Who are managing the PSBs in the US now?

It may be that they're marketing will be around the tour or, I think a grammy nod might be likely. I hate to be overly optimistic, but keep in mind that To Step Aside had a grammy nod, and I think it's possible they might get another one. I think Release wasn't really electronic enough to justify a "best electronic album" nod. Grammy nods have really helped electronic acts in the US get some more exposure--Basement Jaxx is a good example.

I am extremely disapppointed in this news. WHatever happened with Sanctuary, if that's not too old of a topic?

I didn't have any idea what the first single from "Release" was and yet I saw plenty of copies of it out and it was in the sunday papers. For a more established act like PSB who won't be getting radio play, that's the way to push the album....to tell people it's out in some way and the sunday ads reach a lot of people. So for me, that's why the blame goes to Rhino, who I'm sure did feature the "Ray" soundtrack and "Chicago 30" in ads!

The titiming is pretty good, though but the fact that PSB are British doesn't help, no. It's still a very catchy song and the video didn't have anything to do with Bush. Again, they could have released anything and it wasn't going to do well on the singles chart.

BTW, when it comes to singles, "Home and Dry" is just about perfect. It's moody and kind of emo and that was what was happening at the time....but that's not what helped sell "Release" and it made no impact here. They could release whatever single and it won't matter although I think that staelite radio helped a little since they played I'm with stupid.

Fundamental UK import was actually available for sale at the Virgin store at Union Square on May 19th which was the Friday before the official release date in the UK. And it was on sale. And in this day of intrnet sales would any one actually expect somone to wait more than a month for the domestic release.
But at least they got a US release. EMI didn't even bother to release the last album by Robbie Williams except thru iTunes. And there wasn't a US release of his Greatest Hits either
Even though PopArt didn't get a US release it is available it seems almost everywhere as an import.
I would expect their US dates to do well. And tickets are not as inexpensive as one would think. Probably will be $100+ here in New York.

A Minimal maxi-CD might sell well (but mainly as exports)

I'm with stupid could be a single... because don't forget Popjustice originally assumed it was just about 2 dumb super-rich lovers (think Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson for an example here). But the things that made it work well in the UK, Australia etc. such as the Bush/Blair (or Bush/Howard) connotations and the Little Britain appearances won't be as effective.

Numb might work as well.

There's a few options - in reality though, none will probably be released.
