Fund/Mini sales last week

#1 Post by DazzerUKUK »

Minimal sold 9336 copies last week. 15% were digital downloads. It needed to sell 3300 more copies to get into the top ten. 2490 of those sales were the DVD.

Number One sold 29109 copies. Madonna sold 17,922 copies.

Fundamental is 176, having sold 1070 copies, a 2% increase on the week before. Total UK sales are now 51000.

I don't think Nighlife or Release re-entered even the Top 200 following subsequent single releases, did they? If so, this is an improvement. Be great if they could shift enough copies to climb a bit though. Shame that Minimal will doubtlessly take dramatic leave of the Top 40 and the airwaves in the next week or two :(

Very low
Actually, that sales figure is quite high for #19. Similar sales have resulted in Top 10 placings this time last year.

Thanks for the info. Minimal sales are well below average for a PSB single but once again, the DVD didn't embaress itself. They are decent enough figures and they prove that a dvd release is worth the effort.

9,000+ is normally worth a place in the top 15. In January, you would get top 3 but the singles market is picking up strength all the time. Nothing is selling huge amounts but collectively, sales are good.

Just heard an advert for Fundamental on Capital FM. It starts with the orchestral opening from Numb and features snippets of I'm with stupid and Minimal, with commentary about "critically acclaimed" (was on the phone so didn't hear it clearly)
At least EMI are spending a little cash and perhaps Numb will be the 3rd single, should one be released.

Music Week said:

"Although Shakira and Wyclef’s number one sales are the lowest since Ne-Yo’s So Sick topped the list on sales of 28,287 18 weeks ago, the singles market overall actually improved last week by 5% to 1,189,254, with all of the top five clearing 20,000, the first 17 singles selling more than 10,000 copies and the number 20 (Busta Rhymes’ I Love My Chick) selling 9,159 copies - the highest sale for that position for more than two years"

Looks like competition was pretty stiff.

I just had a quick look to see if there were any weeks this year when this 9336 sales total would have been enough for a top 10 placing. The first week of January it would have got to #5. The second week a #8 debut. Other than those there were 3-4 weeks in Feb-Apr where they could have scraped in at #10 with that total. But we can't assume too much. If released at a slower time it would surely have sold less and might not have made top 10.

More trivia... Looking at this week last year I only have scattered sales numbers so I can't place where PSB would be with that total. The best I have is Mariah Carey selling 15k at #5 and Bananarama debuting at #14 on sales of 7,571 so they would at least be close to the top 10.
