Since the North American tour starts at the beginning of October also, you would think (hope?) that Numb would be promoted to US Radio to coincide with the tour.

Maybe there'll be a 'Miami style' dance remix like Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart?

Whilst I would have preferred it to be Integral I am happy there seems to be a 3rd single coming out and it reflects another side of an album that really doesn't deserve to die yet. And even though it's one of my least favourite PSB songs, its the one that I find myself randomly humming at various and frequent times. So, like a proper annoying HIT song then?!

Because of the Warren penned and the USA market, I had thought that too.

Well, I'm not too bothered at this point, although I don't think "Numb" is worthy of the status as a PSB single. But it's all about the first single anyway. Hopefully we'll get some good b-sides.

Yes, the remixes will be bad anyway and we already have all those possible singles on the album. So for fans it actually doesn't matter which one they release unless you don't bother too much about the chart position. In this respect NUMB is a bad choice for a single. It's also my least favourite track on the album.

I'm delighted Numb will be the next single (assuming EMI don't pull the plug a la London).

People talk about PSB needing to reach people outside of the fanbase and Numb is a rare chance to do it - the fact it generated such an interest after the BBC used it proves that. I also think that a lot of people would relate well to the song due to its subject matter - the vast majority have lost a loved one at some point and know how that feels.

Another advantage is that with Numb's lack of potential for remixing, PSB could make a really attractive singles package containing 3 new b-sides (one on the 2-track, the other two on the Maxi) - something that the Minimal package sadly lacked.

Basically, PSB don't have much to lose now - Minimal underperformed so if Numb was to do the same it wouldn't be the end of the world. But I genuinely believe Numb will surprise quite a few people if and when it is released and give Fundamental a new lease of life. And that could pave the way for a 4th single early in 2007 to coincide with the European leg of the World Tour. Integral would be the obvious choice then.

Neil said 'Bright Young Things' would probably be released as a b-side so maybe it will be released with 'Numb'. It would fit nicely with Numb.

If Numb is released it will be interesting to see how it does commercially. Their slower songs like Love Comes Quickly, Being Boring, Jealousy, etc. tend to be a little less successful in the charts than their fast songs. But this is not a Tennant/Lowe composition so it might be treated differently.

It was always going to be a single, Diane Warren doesn't come cheap. PSB don't seem to sell outside their fanbase too much, so perhaps releasing a single that doesn't really sound "PSB" it a worthwhile experiment. I can't help thinking Integral, TSAGS, Numb would have been a FAR more successful trio of singles...

eh, Numb just might do it.

one, well... duh-ane warren.

and two, neil would completely surprise a lot of non-fans by singing the 'biiiiiiig los angeles power ballad' as he calls it. and he sings it beautifully. I was wondering though if they could somehow release the BBC2 Concert verison of it. he sounds even better in that one.

I will believe it when it happens. I still think there is a very strong chance that they will cancel it. That's exactly what happened with London...

As for choice of track, i still think Integral would make a better single and have way more chance of mainstream success. Dont get me wrong, i quite like Numb but can you really imagine this becoming a hit? It has 'album track' written all over it. I fear that Numb may well become their 2nd single ever not to make the Top Twenty...

They should release Integral, they really should...
