Numb promos

#1 Post by ! »

have gone into production 8) according to somebody on the PJ forums. I know that some of you will probably say that's not a reliable source but I did get the Minimal artwork off there before anybody else posted it on here

Also, the person who posted about the promos had a fantastic idea about the video:

"I think the Numb video should be Neil and Chris walking through a graveyard.

A war graveyeard. With flashbacks. Each explosion of the orchestra is when a bomb explodes.

And then we pull back and see it's a modern day war, with kids, soldiers and civilians all caught in the crossfire. A completely useless, futile, deadly war with no point to it.

"Don't wanna hear the news, what's going on, what's coming through..."

Rather apt for today's climate I think."

Also rather tasteless, if you ask me.

Neil brooding at a piano comes to mind, then disappears again.

Not bad. Better than a clip of a petty football team crying buckets about being a fiasco in the WC. Though knowing the 'public', it's probably the football debacle that will pull at the heartstrings and thus have more appeal.

I think that sounds like a great video, so long as it's cleverly done.

I really disagree. It's a Sting video waiting to happen: a sanctimonius and hypocritical exercise in exploiting images of war in the noble pursuit of trying sell some pop records. I find the idea very uncomfortable.

Why don't they go the whole hog and have Numb as the soundtrack to Watership Down 2 'back from the dead.'

if they were to do that video it would be the most tasteless and desperate thing they have ever done. and that includes In Private with Elt - maatweeen
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

Get the guy who did Thom Yorke's new video to do it.
Make it a bit abstract. "Like war without the war".

I don't think it's tasteless. that's like saying ALL war movies, ALL war books, ALL war documentaries are tasteless. not everything entails cashing in. some of it can be depiction of the truth via a medium that reaches people's hearts. I think it can be a powerful vid.

And it doesn't have to be done in a Band Aid stylee, the images of war don't have to be either cliche or clear if a bright director handles it. Blurred images of war/ terror/ fear would suit.

Alternatively, as the song supposedly touches on the 9/11 terrorist attacks, you could have images from the WTC attack, where we get an orchestral explosion when each plane hits the towers.
Top it off with the 7" Fugitive on the b-side and all similarity with Sting will disappate.
