Oh, I love Don't Drop Bombs it is so OTT it's GREAT! Lol!!

And agreed, I'd love Neil to sing "If there was love". Spine-tingling moment forthcoming without a shadow of a doubt, methinks!

Since you asked-

If you are a completist, you should get it. It is decent in a cheesy 80's music sort of way.

But honestly- it is horribly dated now, and Liza's performance is cringe-worthy. The production is ok, but frankly she is not right for most of the songs. She toils valiantly, though, and does best with what she can.

Again, if you must have everything, get it, it isn't horrible. But if money is short and you aren't a completist, there are much better albums to spend your money on. Don't let blind fandom cloud your judgment.

Hardly....she performs the tracks with emotion, and they become even more lush with the string arrangements and production.

It is a masterpiece album - I'm sorry if you can't get into it...

I agree Steve, it's far from dated - or "cheesy", which is the most dated adjective there is.

It really is a beautiful album- Angelo Badalementi (sp?) did the orchestrations on songs like "Rent", Tonight".. he's a composer for many great film scores, and the tone is lush and dramatic..and expensive sounding.

"So Sorry" out-Sondheim's Sondheim himself. And i'm not old enough to be any kind of Judy Garland fan, but in Rent, her ascending vocal.. "and i feel it" is absolutely ghostly..

The CD holds up really well, even as Liza's descended into camp mockery.. but y'know, she really was a star once, and for good reason, and Results is an album she and the Boys can be proud of.

I think Results still sounds fresh today. The overall sound of most of the album is sophisticated and crisp and lush - and somehow timeless (apart from Losing my Mind maybe which is very indicative of where Neil and Chris were at the time - I've always thought of LMM as being a cousin of Always on My Mind).

It's a masterpiece. I remember it was voted as Record of the Year by Record Mirror magazine (late, lamented music magazine, quite pop/dance oriented but also chart obsessed) for 1989.
