Did you here the single of DJ Tiesto feat. Maxi Jazz - Dance4Life?

Missed opportunity for a single "Minimal (DJ Tiesto remix)"

He could have bring the boys back, or Armin van Buuren (his last remix feat. Racoon - Love You More").
Also Deep Dish are very popular at this moment, with some good remixes with Stevie Nicks and Dire Straits....

Minimal deserved far more, but didn't get the attention of the audience. The boys need something extra to get some radio airplay and get them back. Taking listeners to the record shop and buy Fundamental.

Confrontating statement, but there is some truth....

You couldn't be more right. These hipper-than-thou remixes are even too gourmet for me.

Awful choices!! The only single mix I liked was M Factor. The rest blew.

Boys, you suck at this! Let me pick your remixers!

You're so off the mark with those two choices - 2 DJ's that are way past their prime.

The PSB don't *need* anything extra to get radio airplay. If people had to wait weeks to get Minimal, how on earth do people expect it to chart on its week out? Besides, the issue has been beaten to death in a few topics already.

And no, these 2 DJs are nothing special either... and most certainly not the 'cure' to the issue at hand.

Although I will agree that the 'package' coming with Minimal was crap compared to the one with I'm with stupid. Really shell-schocked that they decided to put "Resurrectionist", "Fugitive", "Girls Don't Cry", "Blue on Blue" as obscure b-sides and 2nd rate "Casanova", "Indefinite leave..." (though that one is good-ish), "God Willing" (I like this one, but come on, 'tis not a song so what's the point!?) and "Sodom" as album material.

To get airplay PSB need a good song that is A) catchy B)simple C) not too gay D) pop but not over the top cheese.

It isnt that easy to make hit songs.
Mosty remixes are not what they are cracked up to be.
Richard X was a step in the right direction. Really if they were to remix their catalog and updated the songs and did things they wre technically unable to do 20 years ago they would have their best chance at a big hit because the tightness of radio would let in something it already knows. That means: Opportunities 2006, West end girls 2006, Heart 2006 (featuring Madonna), or What Have I Done To Deserve this 2006 (with new FEMALE duet partner).

They should follow Elton Johns example and do Hip-hop with Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Eminim ect, ect.

usually the boys are ahead of their time with remixes. in my mind the boys are like catwalk fashion. they sound good but they release songs and people dont buy them cos they are still to become commercial. i wish they would release a top shop hit instead of a helmut lang.

DJ Tiesto or Junkie XL (I prefer the latter).... one thing is for sure: It's about time for PSB to hire a Dutch remixer.

I highly doubt the choice of remixers has anything to do with the Pet Shop Boys success or lack of...

I love all the remixes so far, except for the horrendous SC club mix of In private and the hideous Superchumbo remix of Minimal (please, don't use him again!)

I hope they keep using new (or newer) remixers like Depeche Mode did for PTA! Loved all of those mixes

Three people who I would like the Pets to ask are Stuart Price (missed opportunity with Minimal

) and Tiefschwarz.

If there's going to be remixes (though I hope not) for Numb then I hope they're in the style of the Ulrich Schnauss and Colder remixes for DM.

That probebly will depent wether they release a radio edit of the remix or a radio edit of the album version.

It's not a remix putting extra on a cd single, I'm talking about a remix of Minimal as a single by DeepDish, DJ Tiesto or Armin van Buuren.
I am for sure this would help.

And I am not talking about what we like, I am talking about what the general public wants...

A new Tiesto remix does get airplay, simple as that.

Armin Van Buuren remixing a Pet Shop Boy song would be spectacular. 'Where The Streets Have No Name' was great to hear because U2 and PSB are my two favourite bands, and any intermingling between them the better. I've just gotten into Van Buuren, and I think he's far and away the best trance artist right now. I just can't see him doing a PSB mix though, as his 'State of Trance' volumes seem to favour obscure artists, and I'd think he'd continue that trend with regular artists. These days though, I guess PSB can be considered obscure... Anywho, I think Armin could have done something special with Minimal, as the lyrics are light and airy, fitted for his style of trance, with wonderful breaks and bridges. Since Numb'll be the next single, I guess I can't hope for any such mixes until their next album.

I've always wanted them to do something trancey as a lot of their songs are ideal for that hands in the air moment. I don't think they are huge trance fans though.

They do a better job remixing their own songs, like they did back in the old days. Give me one of their classic 12" mixes over the crap DJ mixes any day.
