A Life in Top of the Pops

#1 Post by Actually »

How about a Dvd release of all the LIVE footage of Pet Shop Boys performing their singles on Top of the Pops ?
Does anyone disagree that the following hit singles were never PERFORMED on Top of the Pops ?
Opportunities
Suburbia
What have i done to deserve this ?
Rent
Left to my own devices
It's alright
Where the streets have no name & How can you expect to be taken seriously ?
Jealousy
DJ Culture
Was it worth it ?
Go West
I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing
Yesterday, when i was mad
Paninaro 95
Before
Se a vida e
Single-Bilingual
I'm with stupid...It was stupid to finish Top of the Pops!!!
I'm too weak to be strong

I'm pretty sure I've got a performance of Opportunities on TOTP somewhere.

Chris has a set of drum pads and just plays the beat, he doesn't go near a keyboard.

I don't understand... they have performed some of these tracks on TOTP. "I'm with Stupid", for example, was performed with the dancers wearing those politician masks...

In fact according to the TOTP website...

Opportunities - live on 5th June 1986
Suburbia - live on 2nd October 1986
Rent - live on 22nd October 1987
Left to my own devices - live on 1st December 1988
Paninaro '95 - live on 3rd August 1995
I'm with Stupid - live on 23rd April 2006

that was on TOTP. Chris drops one of the sticks at the end and then chucks the other one as though it was planned. Pretty sure Left to my own devices was performed on TOTP
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

Left to my own devices has also been performed on TOTPs.

Unlike the music videos to these songs, however, the PSB don't own the TOTP footage, it would be owned by the BBC. If PSB were going to put it out, it would be very expensive for them to buy the rights - so I think it would be very unlikely it would ever be relaeased (even though it would be interesting). :(

Someone should make a petition for BBC/Pet Shop Boys to release such a DVD!!! :D

...and if not, the fans who owns good copies, should go together and put it on a bootleg-DVD and upload it somewhere!!! 8)

i have absolutely every single performance that PSB ever did on top of the pops on tape....it is my prized possesion.

- all 3 performances of west end girls, plus the xmas totp performance
- both suburbia performances
- both its a sin performances
- all the xmas totp performances....

wow, what a collection......my favourite is 'opportunities' with neil playing keyboards and chris playing electronic drum pads - furiously banging away to the drum pattern....classic! :D

I emailed the BBC about this a few years ago. They told me they don't do video's or DVD's for a BBC Show. Especially for just one artist. Something to do with the copyright.

I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing was on TOTP once too.
And I think Before was performed too.
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.
