Up their sleeves

#1 Post by Actually »

What with the forthcoming single Numb having the same sleeve design for both CD single formats (a first i believe) i was wondering what you think has been the best design, concept & even the choice of variety of formats ( cd single, 7"vinyl, 10" vinyl, 12" vinyl, Dvd single ) in previous releases ?
Mine has to be the Very/Very Relentless campaign for best design & packaging, photos, & great choice of formats, & even a great number of single releases (5) from one album.

Ive always liked the sleeves from the Behaviour period especially the remix 12"s for So Hard, Being Boring and Streets/Seriously.

You like your best of / favorites threads don't you Actually? 8)

The Very era was great - don't forget the videos, they were fantastic - but I think the most important thing is that the guys have consistently paid a great deal of attention to their sleeves and how they present themselves.

As for single choices, that's another thing. We've been over this endlessly in here!

Cheers

PSB had many great sleeves, but Liberation tops all, I think.
Album-wise, Very is the winner for me.

At the moment I think my fav is the Fundy era sleeves. The album is one of the best PSB covers (for me), and the singles, especially Numb is gorgeous.

Very and Bilingual also my big favourites.

My personal favourite is Bilingual plus all the singles it spawned

I also love Nightlife Lim.Ed. package and the Release flowers

The Fundy cover is SHIT.

It's Alright!

Chris & Neil 12"

Dayglo Pink/Green 12" Remix ...love this sleeve.

It's Alright (The Alternatives) Black 10" with sexy coloured text ....so who else bought this in Birmingham, before going on to see them @ the NEC!! I actually didn't know this release was out, until the mates and I went into HMV :D

So Hard is great as well, especially the 12" Remix sleeve, lush colours. And of course, the Being Boring 12" Remix sleeve.

The sleeves to Rent, It's a Sin & Heart are my Favs. Album sleeve I'd say for me Introspective.

Introspective is the PSB's Dark Side of the Moon sleeve. It stands out very well against all the other "faces" on the record shelf. Another idea they nicked off New Order :).
Personally I really like What Have I Done to Deserve this sleeve along with the Very/Relentless and I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing's.. rubber CD lumpy packs, I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing being the better of the two for the inserts sleeve design.
