The Numb release has a great accapella and this inevitably leads to 'unofficial' fan remixes, which I have done myself. With copyright laws etc. prohibiting me to do anything with my re-interpretation using copyrighted material, it begs the question..."what is the point of releasing an accapella"?
So, do I play it over another track in a DJ set? (not really possible with Numb's 6/8 timing and 80 ish bpm) or Do i just listen to it as is?
Xpress2 recently had a remix competition that saw them choose a fan mix for the offical single release. Fans voted and chose the winner.
I know PSB have done a fan comp before- was it Home & Dry?
Anyway - hat are your thoughts on this?
p.s. PM me if you'd like to hear my re-interpretation.

I actually wish they'd provide more acapellas primarily because I'd love to have that (wonderful) voice on its own.
Secondly, it would enable fans to 'experiment' with tracks. If only just to experiment in private.
I quite like what they did with Minimal - where fans could make public their tweakings. I don't think I would particularly like a fan mix to make it on an official release though... But that's just personal.
