23rd best of the year - Q

#1 Post by skyhigh »

Fundamental has made it to no.23 in Q's 100 best albums of the year. Pretty good, says they produce better work as the underdogs.
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

That's pretty good news. They didn't make it to the one in Uncut (although it has my other favourite album of the year, Scritti Politti's achingly beautiful White bread black beer as their no 2!)

That's not surprising, since Uncut is a rockist mag that has never given a more than three star review to anything PSB has ever released.

I'm quite surprised though deep in my heart I want it to be number 1. 8)

Luna Park also appears in Q's 100 Great Undiscovered Tracks of 2006 ("Bittersweet ode to the high life, and among the best ballads they've ever written") and I'm with stupid makes the readers' 100 Greatest Tracks of the Year.

Luna Park is probably my lowlight on Fundamental. I don't understand what's so special about it, apart from the good production. I find it rather dull, to be honest.

My favourite ballads on Fundamental are Indefinite Leave To Remain and Casanova In Hell.
