I man, let me just ask you exactly what you have brought to this forum, shall I? Very little, except some tedious footie game and ignorance, bigotry and chauvanism with regards to women and race, to name but two.

I think you're out of order here o big one. Dave has made as much of and probably more of a contribution to this and the other forums as most people and I personally enjoy reading what he has to say. What's more a lot of people could argue over what it is that you have contributed since returning to the fold, other than about 700 posts more than any of us!

Am I the only one bored by this whole thread?

I mean, we've established that everyone hates everyone, and that everyone has an opinion and occasionally they differ- so can we move on now, please?

If anything, this blows Steve's post so out of proportion.........

Besides, shouldn't this be OT?

However, my issue regarding this whole fiasco is the role and behaviour of the moderators. They are hardly contributing to the debate are they? One of them has left and the other has disappeared completely since posting their all important message.
And your 'contribution' to this forum is mostly observing/criticising other people's postings, rather than making constructive contributions yourself. Apparently you can't deal with any kind of moderation. Moderators seem to annoy you, for some reason. Moderators don't have to contribute to discussions at all, they're here to make sure things don't get out of hand. If *other* people complain about something and the moderators decide to take some action, you will start to ridiculize them. But if something annoys *you*, we all have to hear it a thousand times.

What's your goal? Typing so much of critical nonsense that StevePSB and Your Funny Uncle and The Gardner want to quit their jobs? Will you take over the moderation (and the costs) of this forum? - I suggest you quit your silly attack against the moderators now. It's getting boring, irritating and... yes.... repetative (remember?)

(dVTB)
Oh dear, you really don't understand do you?

I do not disagree with the "job" of moderator and agree that they have to step in when needed. What I seriously disagree with is the methods that they use and the threatening way that everyone in this forum was addressed.

If at work a member of my team was causing issues that were affecting the harmony of the team, I would not send an e-mail to the other 12 people threatening them with "tough administration" and such things.

I would take the person causing the issue aside and speak to them in private. If this doesn't work then you follow the procedures and procedures that you have at work. You don't try to intimidate and threaten everyone else making sweeping generalisations.

I have only posted 180 odd posts since I've been on here, fine I've had a pop at Satanas (and let's face it a lot of people have!) and I started this thread but other than that I haven't criticised anybody. The only reason I started this thread is becasue I felt very strongly about it, do you seriously think I'm not going to respond just because it was posted by a moderator?

In fact the only person other that Satanas that I've had a pop at was you, regarding the Seriously on PopArt issue- in hindsight, i probably shouldn't have mentioned it, but at the time it annoyed me so I said something. Still it would explain why you dislike me so much I suppose!

As for the costs, I reguarly contributed to the costs of the aimoo forum and would happily do so if asked again.

One simple question through all this nonsense? Are Moderators still active here? Steve posted a warning the other day that people need to keep to the very clear rules. This isn't happening, so what next? Is Rob on holiday? Gardner seems to have gone with him. Dave has decided to move-on (his choice of course). Steve has kindly asked people to obey the rules, a few are simply making a total mockery of your original post, mate. What next?
I can't be arsed getting involved with any arguments with anyone, but this thread has now reached its 9th page of pointless insults on a Pet Shop Boys topic page. Why?.................................

Shen's post still rules IMHO.

This thread is a fascinating discourse on the exact nature of democracy, tolerance, prejudice etc...

There are no right answers to the issues thrown up:

either you:

a) Regard it as within the remit of your freedom of speech to censure others' free expression of their beliefs, no doubt with the ultimate purpose of curbing ceratin expressions if they contravene basic rules of decency etc...

or

b) Allow absolutely every comment to pass, since every comment is an expression of its author's inalienable right

or

c) Acknowledge that when people are put together and have nothing new to talk about or do they are bound to argue. Acknowledging this entails accepting and, even, embracing it. Vive la difference!

If you chose (a), you are a fascist or a prude or a Moderator
If you chose (b), then you're that person who only ever says 'sorry' on the tube, i.e. scared and boring in equal measure..
If you chose (c), then you're still reading this post, and for the right reasons.

Bottom line: I'd rather be reading/posting on THIS thread than discussing a whole load of mixes of Flamboyant that I haven't heard...

BTW, I DID try a Poll on Flamboyant B-Sides (in the 'let's talk PSBs' spirit of things), and (pace Tom/Paulo) got absolutely no response!! But maybe I don't have enough cult status here to attract responses.

Because Flamboyant isn't out until the end of March.

As for the private issues thing: if you really have such enormous problems with StevePSB's request, why didn't you PM him yourself?

Ive already answered this in my first reply to you. If he is going to post a message that "EVERYBODY MUST READ" then surely it's only fair that "ANYONE CAN REPLY".

Your opinion is that if a moderator gives an order then it must be obeyed without question simply because the person is a moderator- some sort of display of deference. As far as I am concerned, I don't agree. Just because he is a moderator, doen't mean anyone can't disagree or argue with what he's saying.

dVTB wrote: And really... you spent about twice the amount of messages telling Satanas to leave than I spent on the Seriously issue, which is a fully on-topic PSB issue, by the way.

*ouch*
But with all due sympathy you do know that you just interrupted a very important discussion?
But it's a welcome break from reading all these posts by semi sane people that try to talk some common sense into brick walls.
