Incredible series!

Is this available anywhere else in better quality to download? I'd love to have all eight episodes on a DVD...

yep. I've already managed to download 3 episodes in .avi format (50-60mb each).
Had to use the VideoDownloader extension for Firefox. Maybe there are other ways arround....

A very nice viewving for synth-geeks like me

To me, the ultimate performance of the Pet Shop Boys was back in Christmas 1988 on Top of the Pops. Here they played (mimed) "Always on my mind" & "Heart" using the Fairlight. I seem to remember the Keyboard with a computer Keyboard on top & with a chunky monitor showing the lyrics of "Always on my mind" & then a blank screen when "Heart" was being played.

So the "Wind Tunnel" noises on "Always on my mind" & the "DU DU DUDU...." (You know what i mean) noises on "Heart" were done via the Fairlight, interesting.

Basically, all of the Actually sessions is done on Fairlight. The album is quite famous in synth geek territory for that very reason. Famously, Chris and Blue Weaver had to spend an entire night punching each note of the orchestral score to "It couldn't happen here" into the data-list of the Fairlight because there was no time to bring in the orchestra before pressing the album (they actually had deadlnes back in those days).

Chris actually wrote songs on his Fairlight until well into the 90s.
