So The Killers have included the long mix, but labeling it as the edit? Cool for me. Dangerous for them, as the single could be invalid in the charts if this is discovered, right?

Yes, that's right. But the OCC might ignore it - they've certainly done that for other major label acts in the past. I think Westlife once released a 2-track CD with a running time of nearly 13 minutes, and they let them get away with it.

But since this is the only cd format for Read My Mind, couldn't it pass as a cd-maxi?

It depends - the record company has to submit the formats to the Official Charts Company, and if they have submitted it as a 2-track CD and not a Maxi, then they are breaking the rules, but if they have submitted it as a Maxi, then they're fine.

But doesn't the qualification of a 2-track or cd-maxi come with minimum price requirements? For instance: I think a cd-maxi-single is supposed to cost at least 2,99 pounds or so?

There are only restriction on the "dealer price" - i.e. what the distributor sells it to the store for. Maxi CDs have to be at least £1.79. There is no restriction on how much the store sells it for, it's just that the majority of the time Maxi CDs cost £2.99.

But with the tracklisting saying the PSB remix is 4.02, I'd say it was more than likely a manufacturing error, and that the CD WAS meant to be a 2-track rather than a Maxi.

The album Sam's Town has now risen back to the top ten, it's #6 this week, so it's clear that Read My Mind can be defined as a succesful song, no matter where it will end up in the singles chart due to this c***-up.

Well it would if the idea was to get people in to the shops in the hope that they might buy other products. That sort of thing is not unheard of

Also, in a highly competitive market, a 10% margin is certainly better than nothing.

Also, why does Amazon.co.uk list three-track CD if the real one has only two?

Now the question is if the PSB 7" edit is also on the 1-track UK CD promo? The running times are close 4.02 from the 2-track and 4.03 on the 1-track.

However the original album version is 4.06 which is also close to 4.02 PSB edit.

Today, it's arrived my copy from hmv and even if in the cover is written that the PSB remix is long 4.02, it's a 7.18 minutes remix like read somewhere. Good job Universal for the cover

OK, after a few listens now, The Stars Are Blazing Mix is Fanf ucking tastic.

I've just listened to this four (but really seven) minute remix, and wasn't too impressed to be honest, but I'm hoping that it'll grow on me.

It struck me that PSBs are better at mixing more beat-orientated tracks which naturally lend themselves to their style, such as Girls and Boys, and Sorry. Read My Mind is, whilst still a great song, a slower and rather conventional melodic rock song and the remix sounded a little forced to me.

I still think it's good, but not upto the standard which they previously set with other remixes.

Still, I'm glad they did it, and hope that there are more high profile remixes to come.

I think they've done really well with this remix.

I got my sister's boyfriend (a huge killers fan but certainly not a dance music fan) to sit down and listen to it.

He really liked it and said it was good that they kept the original song in there. He didn't like the bit at 4:50 though
