That's strange, The "lemon Tree" song has often been mistaken for being Sting!

Another couple of songs often incorrectly thought to be related to PSB are:

one night in bangkok - which was actually Murray Head

True Faith (Pet shop boys remix) - which is actually the Shep Pettibone remix

I've also seen a reference to PSB being involved with 'I don't wanna be a cowboy' but I can't remember who that was by.

There was another record in the 80s which had some mystery around the release - but again I can't remember what is was but the credits contained the phrase "the piousness of Neil Tennant" - can somebody else remember ( i did buy it - so I'll dig it out and post another reply later if no one else comes up with it).

**** Just remembered what it was ! ****

Bizet Boys - Ride 'em Carmen - in the 80s /90s a lot of speculation that Pet Shop Boys were involved - but I think Neil did confirm they had nothing to do with it.

It's rather bizarre how this triffle of a song has become part of Pet Shop Boys mythology. Real Life were Australia's rather belated try at New Romantic (we were always a step behind in music trends back then) and whilst they had a couple of passable hits their music never came close to PSB. Does anyone honestly think PSB would release a song called "Send me an Angel"? It reminds me of the story Neil told of Dianne Warren wanting them to record a song of hers called "Kisses on the Wind", and he had to tell her that Pet Shop Boys could simply never release a track called "Kisses on the Wind". The idea is just too ludicrous. So is the idea that they would release a track called "Send me an Angel"!

The matrix number of that record is R 6214, which has been scored out and a new one RIDE 1 has been added.

The R xxxx series is the same as PSB use being on Parlophone and would put the release of it at roughly the same time as It's Alright and Left to my own devices.

You can see why it was thought to be one of their secret compositions.

I had heard that it was put together by Tom Watkins and one of the members of Sigue Sigue Sputnik, but I'm not not sure.

That's pretty funny.

Well to know the Pet Shop Boys for more than just the singles that hit in the US, of course you'd never think it was them at all. By the time I bought "Discography" and listend to all those songs I knew for sure they would never release a song like that.

It is true that the singer of Real Life sounds like Neil, that track "Send me an Angel' can be confusing for most fans!

"Pure," by the Lightning Seeds, was one song that I thought could have been a PSB track when I first heard it on the radio. Ian Broudie doesn't really sound like Neil, and there are a lot of other reasons why it doesn't resemble a PSB song, but in 1989 the boys had been rather quiet and I half thought this might be some kind of new direction.
