How big is the PSB touring company?

#1 Post by LoveComesQuickly »

There have been quite a few posts about prospects of PSB touring Oz, and it obviously comes down to economics I would have thought.

So, as I don't know much about "life on the road", how big is the PSB touring company? That is, apart from Neil and Chris, how many technicians/musicians/dancers/gofers/hangers-on/etc make up the company, and what's the breakdown?

I have heard of rappers with an entourage of 50 or so heavies, but I presume the Boys aren't that big-headed!

chris
neil
tour manager
pete g
3 singers
2 dancers
lighting person
sound engineer
stage manager
equipment manager
traveling stage crew probably 4-6
local hired crew probably 4-6
bus drivers when touring in the same country for the crew and band usually 2
security
make up
Custume manager

airline cost, taxis, limos, hotels, meals, insurance, equipment rentals, everyone gets paid daily even if they are not performing, cost to ship the equipment from location to location,

I recall Phil Collins mentioning on his board when he was touring with his Farewell tour a couple of years ago that his cost was over $250,000.00 usd everyday while on the road, but he had a huge arena tour.

I would say it would be safe to say that there cost is at least $30-50 thousand usd per day.

They probably get $200-$250 thousand usd per live show from the promoter and then the promoter works out the cost with the venue as far as security and rent for the venue, ticket sales, concessions, parking.

So if they can do 2-3 shows per week they can easily cover there cost and make a nice profit, thats why I think they have been more open to Festivals the last several years.
