And Chris also revealed that a new album may be on the cards as the disco duo are still busy writing new material.

"We just go into our little studio and write because that's what we enjoying doing," said Chris.

"It is best to do it while you are in the mood rather than sitting down and thinking right, I have to write a song now'. We just write when we feel like it.

"We've started working on a couple of songs already so you'll just have to watch this space in terms of a new album."

--------------------------

I'm glad to see that they're writing new songs, but on the other hand "a couple of songs" doesn't sound like a new album is to be expected before 2009 or so.

2012 must be. And then they have some technicl issues which last for 1 year to be solved...
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

Apparently they haven't toured Australia! I'm also astonished that they still have the ability to fill a football stadium, even if it is in Colombia! And I must say it's a s**t load cheaper to see them in UK than here!

Ticket sales must be slow in Swindon if Chris is doing interviews!

You're becoming very cynical in your old age. :D

"At the moment this tour seems to be never-ending," said Chris, who says he doesn't get homesick.

Hardly surprising considering Chris doesnt have a home!!

"I really like playing West End Girls, there is something special about it,"

I bet he does as all he does is play the bassline!!

If they're writing as and when they feel like it rather than waiting till after the tour I'm sure they can have an album's worth of material done in time to release next year... having said that, they do have to finish the tour before they seriously get writing/recording I suppose and let's not forget the ballet!

There's also the seven songs from 2005 they can use or work on (esp. TFET, China, Dirty Tricks and ATE)

It's a tough one to call. They were writing and recording material post-Release in early 2004, if I remember rightly, but I don't think much ever came of that and it wasn't until the following year that they actually officially started making Fundamental. I guess that was partly due to switching their focus to Battleship Potemkin but nevertheless it's probably too early to tell whether their recent foray into the studio will actually result in anything concrete in the near future.

It also depends on how seriously they are pursuing this ballet idea. However, if it's true that they've signed a new deal with EMI (as Neil suggested during Fundamental's promotion), it may be that the record company push them to make another proper studio album first, which would be welcome news.

It's always great to hear that the boys are busy writing new stuff. I don't see why a new album can't be released before summer 2008. Please remember that previous studio albums were postponed because of side projects, such as the Closer To Heaven musical and Battleship Potemkin. If they focus on releasing a new album, I'm sure the result can be found in the shops next spring or so.
