Unimportant. Radio listeners nor you compile the playlist of big music stations. The facts sheet says that Robbie AND PSB had a hit. At least it's a better fundament for a single, than a previous single that flopped.BlueSwan wrote:But I doubt that more than 2% of radio listeners actually notice that it's a Robbie/PSB collaboration and not just a regular RW solo track. Infact, I don't regard it as a PSB single myself.
Not only HMV mentions Disco 4, also EMI Denmark and some other EMI department (UK?) said that this album is scheduled.
Releasing a download-only PSB single would be the worst idea ever. I'd rather prefer NO single then, since a download-only single will FLOP. Pet Shop Boys thank a majority of their single chart results to physical sales. In download charts, these singles performed remarkably worse. I'm With Stupid made #5 in the psychical sales chart. I forgot the position of Minimal, but it was WAY better than the #19 official chart result.! wrote:If Integral does get released as a single I can see it being a download only single with clips from the Cubism DVD for the video.Blockhead wrote:Could "Integral" be Pet Shop Boys' first download only single, perhaps?

Oh, I agree. I'm not a fan of downloads but I can see it happening like that if Integral does get released as a single.

The fact that HMV have listed it means that it is certainly being considered. They only list stuff that the record label says is "upcoming".
However, this doesn't mean that Disco 4 will get a release. It may well be that the Boys and Parlophone are discussing it but eventually decide against it (a la No time for tears).
Either way, if it is going to come out in late August/ early September we will hear shortly I suspect.

I'm always waiting...

They weren't wrong. NTFT was going to be a single, but PSB changed their mind and Cubism as a Double set was the original idea I do believe?tottenhammattspurs wrote:....well, they were wrong about No Time For Tears CD Single...and Cubism Double DVD........
Who knows what goes on in the minds of those folks at Parlophone.
And you say you never believed in luck

There's no smoke without fire! Presumably HMV received the prospective release information from EMI; HMV don't make releases up. Whether Disco 4 will actually see the light of day remains to be seen, of course. As DazzerUKUK points out, the listings for a NTFT single and a double Cubism DVD were not mistakes on HMV's part - the Pets and/or Parlophone simply changed their minds.
Prick up your ears.

I disagree here. EMI is not releasing records just to please fans. They want to cash in on PSB, hence releases like PopArt, Concrete, Disco 3 and the first six album re-issues. With minimal costs you get a maximum sales result.Undertaker wrote:I don't think they are released with the intention of selling a lot of copies. I think the Disco's are simply a bonus for the fans.
What I tried to say was that releasing a single to support Disco 4 *might* have such a positive influence on the sales that the costs of the single are covered. Nowadays, the single is mainly a promotion tool to sell more albums. Why not USE it....
