I don't think rumours "have to" be clarified. If I was famous enough to have a fan forum devoted to myself, I would probably post rumours under a false nickname, just to have some fun. Did you hear that Neil has two girlfriends now and Chris is actually Elvis in disguise...? 8-o Oh and Disco 4 will contain an Erasure cover?

Oh hi Gin Soaked Neil... ;)

hehe - but okay thats not what I want ;-). I need a serious Mr. Tennant, who objective and serious states all rumours and news as wrong or false, so all further discussions about those runours and news will immediately end up!

In the end it does not matter if they browse through their fan forums. They need an official forum. If they create an official forum one day, that will make most of these fan forums not so hot. Unless its a big band like Depeche Mode. They have an official forum and several popular fan forums too.

I can't see the Pets going for an official forum myself. Anyway, the moderation would probably be restrictively tight if they did have one.

better they don't!!! We already had such a forum, when Redman runs the one on the official page! But it isn't a way, cause the fans still should control her forums by themselfe!

I think it would be strange to read a forum dedicated to your work. Especially given that us PSB fans are a hard bunch to please and are always commenting on how we thing things could be better done :)

Imagine if you could read a forum commenting on every little thing you did at work- "that e-mail was rubbish", "He should never have spoken to his boss like that" etc etc.

I suspect Neil and Chris were more interested in places like this when the internet started up. Now the novelty has worn off they probably are quite wary about reading anything on here. I think their decision to stop answering fan questions every month on their website was part of that. There are some strange people out there and a lot hide on the internet. No matter how famous or succsessful you are criticism hurts, so why put yourself through it?
I'm always waiting...

That is the way to run a proper forum. If you go to any other forum online, the official Depeche Mode forum, etc. you will find tight moderation, that is the way it supposed to be.

I agree with stopping obvious trolling, spamming and overly offensive behaviour, as they are utterly tedious and drive good posters away. I have also been on psb forums long enough to remember the very tight moderation on the (unofficial) Sky Forum, which resulted in mass defection to another board.

What I meant about potentially restrictive moderation on an official psb board was with regard to what the Pets would allow to be discussed. Imagine, for example, that a poster discovered some hot news long before the Pets wanted to officially announce it - say, details of a new album or tour. Would the posters be allowed to discuss such things or would threads be deleted?

Hmmm. Does anyone remember the George Michael forum and how that ended in tears?

If there is an official forum that N&C participate in, it 1) will not last long, 2) will end in tears.

You are getting pretty good at being right all the time. A good post.

This forum, IMO has been one of the best we've had, despite recent drivel infecting the board. I, myself have been guilty of breaking rules (more than once) in the past but i think most people at least once have done that and if the moderation for an official board would be run like others i've visited, there would be no members left. Just those saying polls were fixed because the percentage went down and saying ''i agree'' all the time.

Heated debate is a good read (apart from the trolling of late) and i doubt such heated debates would be allowed in an official forum.

Pointless arguing about it really. There are only 2 decent PSB boards ;- This one and the other forum that split from here. The rest are bullsh*t and i doubt anyone would defect from the two mentioned forums and go to an official one.
