If you could erase something from PSB's carreer...

The Nightlife era is probably the worst offender. I don't think there was enough good material for both the album and the musical. The production on the album is very boring. And, as mentioned above, New York City Boy was really, really bad and hurt their reputation more than Go West. I think both songs have a lot to do with the fact that (at least parts of) the public consider them to be nothing more than "some gay dance band", and New York city boy was not good enough of a song to make up for that.
To answer the question: I would delete Nightlife and the musical and replace it with an album of the best songs from both projects. And I'd burn every tape, hard drive etc. that contains a trace of New York city boy.

New York City Boy again. And I wish that I could somehow magically remove all traces of it from my collection as well. I think I only have more formats of I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more than of New York city boy. *sigh* And the worst thing is that I used to really, really like New York city boy.

When you're a boy, some days are tough.Radiophonic wrote:"You'll never have a bored day" for one thing.
Does not serve too well as a proof that Neil is one of the greatest lyricists in the history of pop music.

The Montage video - a sorry attempt at livening up some very dull footage. I still can't believe it got past their otherwise immpecable quality control.
And what's that boring cover for "A Life in Pop" all about?
What's everybody's problem with Disco 2? Though hardly a classic, it's still a bit of fun.

The thing about the Sound of the Atom Splitting for me.
It's just PSB trying out acid house : He's a villain, him over there with the stocking on his head
Look, there's another, they call themselves 'pinheads' you got to laugh at that
well you have in my world
So i could never hate something i have a good giggle about
unlike shite Disco potential first 2 min

The Sound Of Atom Splitting is something to do with a Derek Jarman film, I believe. It worked fantastically as an instrumental on the 1989 tour. I agree that the version with lyrics is somewhat odd, although it is supposed to be, I would imagine. Not that I have listened to it for years!
If I could scrub any of the singles it would be New York City Boy. The song and the video are both horribly cheesy, imho. The Pets sometimes complain that they are marginalised by being labelled as "camp" or "gay". Well, duh!

Prick up your ears.
