Pet Shop Boys influenence?

I was on wikipedia and searched this rap group called Shop Boyz, they are apparently really popular in USA, well how they formed the band was, that they met in a HI FI shop.. kinda reminiscent of the Pet's and I think thats where their named derived from??

There used to be some names of familiar guys from this forum on that article. I don´t see the names anymore.

I have no idea who's behind it, but I have a strong suspicion that some Pet Shop Boys fans entered a lot of crap in this topic.

In the history of the article, I found a previous version containing:

Retail Album had leaked via the internet as of June 10, 2007 and limited edition sealed copies were being offered for sale by Technotrancemix Vinyl, a Polish-based online record store.

The group have been criticised by music journalist and all-round misanthrope dVTB who has lambasted them for failing to include fan favourite 'How can you expect to be taken roughly from behind?' on the forthcoming album.

It also refers to Santanas In Da House, Undertaker and DJ Veryrelentless as former members of the band. I think we can be quite sure that this crap was posted by members of the mature Proboards Forum with too much time on their hands. I'm not able to check that forum, but perhaps somebody can do some search over there and confirm.

Aren't they rap or something? I must admit their name snags my eye when the staid NYTimes posts the ton ten singles/albums. Something about "Shop Boyz" will do that.

Anyway, didn't Neil say that they chose the name because it sounded slightly hip-hop?
ASTROnomically ahead of his time then.

Which other artists would you say are genuinely influenced by PSB? Either because they've said they are (Keane) or because it's obvious from listening to their music (Ladytron)?

Did Keane say they were influenced by the Pet Shop Boys? I like them even more now.

I can't think of anyone influenced by the Pet Shop Boys, other than some songs by Kylie (You Disco Needs You) and Madonna's last album.

Modern Talking? Sparks (their last comeback album)? Army Of Lovers?

Madonna admitted being influenced by Pet Shop Boys, last year. The Killers are known as PSB fans, and some of their songs sound PSB influenced. I thought this of "Read My Mind", way before the news about the PSB remix was announced.
