Adapting to GW means :
1) replacing coal fired power stations.
2) replacing petrol engines, with hybrid, hydrogen, fuel cell or other technology.
3) Modifying cattle's diet (or using GM) to lower methane.
4) Making our homes more energy efficient.
5) Capture and recycle water better.

Most of these things have solutions already. The problem is frightened and confused people.

This is an opportunity for business, not an attack on capitalism. Calling me a commie

As far as hybrid cars go: Their production causes much more damage than a normal SUV.

You mention measures to reduce CO2 but in reality it's about "carbon tax" and more control over people's money and the West's wealth. This is the truth about this crap.
You cannot simply replace all coal fired power plants by wind energy(which kills birds and disturbs the wildlife and drives down property prices, not to mention there's no energy without wind) and solar panels take up humungous amounts of space and are expensive to maintain. We need coal plants just like nuclear plants.
Everything the Dimmocrats incl. Al Bore suggest in Congress is about bigger government, more taxes and more control over people. Come on, everybody with half a brain cell knows why D.C. is teeming with Dems: Dems love being in power. They love wielding power over people and they love bribing people for votes by greasing them with "welfare." And GW is the perfect excuse to interfere with people's lives. And you know what Glenn: Deschanel might go a bit OTT sometimes, but on this occasion he's exactly right. "alig" has done nothing these past 6 pages or so except call people communists because they disagree with him.

Any fool can see that me and Greg aren't communists in any way, shape or form. So why should we all have to put up with that sort of constant abuse? Especially from someone who doesn't see fit to even argue our points, but merely to hurl baseless insults at us.

The moderators should have stepped in earlier to be honest, and warned the likes of "alig" and "pet shop boy" that they need to start arguing facts rather then just hurling insults or asking ridiculous and facile questions. Posts from the likes of myself and Greg have 1000 times the intellectual content of our opponents, yet we don't seem to be afforded the kind of respect that that should bring.

If people can't debate political issues in an adult fashion without it turning into a big time ego trip and mutual insult hurling session, then we may have to call time on all political discussion.

As has been said, whatever we do someone is always upset by it, so if we close a thread we'll get abuse, if we don't close it we'll be accused of letting people get away with things they shouldn't. Either way someone is going to whine, and I'm pretty tired with taking the flak for doing (or not doing) something about threads such as this. People need to stop and think before they speak, take some responsibilty and consider the repercussions of their actions and the undesirable position it leaves the forum admin in.

In this instance I think this thread is exhausted so I am now going to close it. In future I will be keeping a closer eye on threads such as this from the start and I will close them sooner if people start getting nasty. Please don't be the person to make that happen.
