PopArt didn't flop. Despite it's low chart position, it hung around for a couple of months and sold pretty well in the end.
Yeah, but mostly at heavily discounted prices to the post-Christmas crowd. It didn't exactly do well. Discography still outsells it.

Yeah, but Disco 3 was a 'fan' album. The general record-buying public isn't going to be interested in a third Pet Shop Boys remix album. The question is: who is Disco 4 aimed at? The answer: nobody.
Hmmm, it might be that Disco 4 is aimed at people like me: fans who have just recently found PSB. There might not be many of those though. I'll be happy to buy it, but I'd rather have had an "Integral" single and no Disco 4 at all, if I were to choose...

PopArt is good, but it makes you skip tracks. I always skip "Home and dry", "Miracles", "Before", "It's alright", "I get along", "DJ culture"... Of course they are nice PSB songs, but if I'm listening to a greatest hits collection, I don't actually want to hear them as much as the better songs. (And why is "DJ culture" included but "Was it worth it" is not??)

True, but it's still sales.

It's amazing that Discography still sells as good as it does, plus it is more listenable than PopArt.

Not bad - not brilliant either, though. As good as could be expected, I suppose.

I hope Disco 4 flops. That will make EMI and PSB understand that fans may be loyal, but their support not unconditional.
This is really a bad thing to say. I just checked what I spent in the past one year. It does not even add up to one hundred dollars. Now let's assume PSB are milking their fans for the last 11 years (including Bilingual) that would do f*** 1100 dollars- assume you have saved it? Would you be a Rockefeller? Or because now that you spent this sum are you in desolate poverty? Do you really feel that cheated? Is it worse than going to a nightclub and paying five times the regular price for a beer that is full of water more than your crying eyes?

One Pethead says he wouldn't be too keen to make Boys more rich in their old ages. Wouvv that is a loyalty, for sure. When they were young, they gave me much more than I hoped so it never bothers me to pay a few more pennies for their old-age whims. As a personal note, for two long, boring, desolate, moneyless, friendless summers, they made my life...

so they could go on releasing Disco until whatthehell number it is, I am gonna buy. I may not listen to I have enough suberp material to justify the nonsense. I guess more or less we all went through that "PSB" era in our lives.

The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

Another friend argues buying Disco 4 would encourage Chris to be more lazy. Do you really think that if Disco 4 flops, would this stimulate the modern-time, multi-millionaire Chris to new zeniths in music? Good or bad, they have lost a great part of their muse...but this is nothing with the talent. They are rich now, they are old now....in those brilliant times they were driver by hunger, future fear, a greed for success and a good accumulation of past 25 years in their lives.

You can still dig and come up with some rare golds reminiscent of that brilillance- Hit and Miss, to Step Aside, Closer to Heaven, Samurai in Autumn, Here remix...more heavyweights, Flamboyant, Integral, Fugitive and the masterpice (imo) of everything since Introspective: Minimal. They certainly make up the bad items.

Go and buy Disco 4 it wouldn't cause a financial global crisis if you spent a few dollars. Throw it to the far end of the library. Never listen to it (this is what I did to Concrete and except five songs to Fundamental) And wait for the next move. Who knows, it may be better than Very or Behaviour, your personal favourites? (I don't think they will ever top their untouchable first three).

Why are people talking so much about the money issue here? It has nothing to do with the music being good or not. Disco 4 probably costs what it's worth, but I could imagine a PSB product (one CD/DVD) having a real value of 500 dollars or euros. I spent less than 20 euros for the PopArt DVD which is ridiculous in fact. The contents are worth much more than that, it's all such great stuff in the world of pop music, so in fact we've gotten most PSB products ridiculously low-priced....

Picture the scene:

You support a certain football club, Arsenal for arguments sake.

You pay to watch all their home games.

One Saturday, Arsenal play Everton. Arsenal win 2-1

Then 6 years later, Arsenal play Everton again BUT you are told that the game will be EXACTLY the same as the one Arsenal won 2-1 6 years ago (i.e it is an exact repeat of the game 6 years previous) except 5 minutes of it.

Do you part with your cash to go and watch it?

So you are basically suggesting we have to throw away an album/ or let's say PopArt DVD (considering your example is visual) after giving it one listen from the beginning to the very end because now we practically know what it is about? Now you know they are exactly the same videos to the very end...

Yeah but you can get Discography for between £3-£5 in Woolies, perhaps that's why.

No, Im saying we shouldnt have to part with our cash just for one new mix. Its not even one new track, its just one remix. Its a CON, a RIP OFF.

Actually, what I might do is list the CD singles these mixes appear on, on eBay and this should fund buying Disco 4.
