The WORST word attack to PSB and your response???

#1 Post by pethead_anna1989 »

(new member here! :D perhaps the youngest? I'm not sure)

Okay, for me, the worst comment to the boys was made by my English teacher.
It happened this summer.
Each one in my class was asked to come out and say anything we wanted. I shared my love towards the boys with my classmates. Then...here it comes..

My teacher (T): so what's your fav. song of them?
Me (A): at this moment, I'd say "What hv I done to deserve this"
T: What?
A: It's a song name actually.
T: I know.
A: Right.
T: um.....do you believe in it then?
A: ("what"?) well, kind of.
T: oh, kind of. erm.....they're outdated aren't they?
A: NOOOO!
T: (laughed in a rude way)

Alright, I really wanted to beat her at that time but I suppressed my anger...
back to my seat and I kept thinking "What hv I done to deserve this? What hv I done to deserve this?"

What made it worse was that,
she is actually OLDER than the boys!

When I was younger, I could be really upset about people attacking PSB. Nowadays, I care a lot less. If people want to have a poor taste in music, they can have a poor taste in music. I'm no longer on mission to explain people how great PSB are.

I get told all the time that Neil and Chris are the same age as my parents and find it weird that I love PSB so much. Actually Chris is born the same year as my mum and Neil is 3 years older than my dad. And many times people are going on about Neil and Chris´s gayness. They find it really weird that you can listen to music made by gay people.
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

"You like the Pet Shop Boys? You must be a fan of Erasure as well, then...."

My response was stunned silence.
"Enjoy it while it lasts ... "

Don't let the fact that this is a teacher and an adult make you think they can't be moronically stupid. Most adults these days are children in adults bodies and the word 'professional' is no guarantee of it!

Well done, really great to know that someone of your age is not afraid to admit they like something 'unpopular'.

And be grateful you're a pupil, not a teacher!!!

:D

I've always liked a bit "unpopular" music. And I also like older, well established artists, because if I listened to a newcomer, how could I know that he/she is doing it well in the future? Some artist who has just released the first album, might be just forgotten and disappeared a few years later on. So, PSB have always had the quality as I rate it. I just try not to think about it too much when people make negative comments about PSB.

Thx for your encouragement! :D My friends always say I'm weird as I love the boys but I don't care anyway, the boys make my days!

BTW my teacher always mixes up "pacific" and "specific" how amazing

Welll I used to get all sort of nasty things said, until I did not care anymore, might be just a coincidence, but that stopped people saying bad things about the boys, or must be that I left some people behind :?

Most of the things said go into the cathegory of typical backlash, but the worst insult, came also from my english teacher at the institute where I studied english (Northamerican Institute of Culture). I think the conversation was a little like all of us saying our favourites bands and, of course she never asked me so I said it anyway, the Pet Shop Boys, and my teacher replied, and I remember this vividly even if 13 years have passed... "That guy that sings there, he sings like if he was a woman, I hate his voice".

I was so pissed after that, just as pethead_anna1989, I supressed my anger, controled my self and remained silent for the rest of the semester, actually I started to operate under the system "you speak, when you're spoken to". Sometimes though I think I should have said something back, just so when I would look back and remember this, I would feel all pissed again

Regards;
Clau =)
If I was you, I wouldn't treat me the way you do.

Oh well....I always care when someone especially a journalist say stupid things about the boys....I get hurt easily...but one has to ignore that kind of people, they don't deserve even a second of our thought.Their brain hasn't got the power to understand some things...

Not so much anger, just annoyance:

"Oh, they're gay." Well, duh!!

"Are you gay?" f*** off you thick, narrow-minded t***!

Now, nobody attacks the Boys in conversations with me, they know is simply not convenient.

The girl who said to me that for her PSB were out of the music biz, does not dislike them of course she does not a fan but not against them. She only thought that PSB were disappeared and in Italy is very easy to think in this way. Only with the gig in Milan this year someone spoke again about PSB and their music but often in a not good way... :?
